A few weeks ago, we kicked off Stage 2 of The Community Edition Project: Wallpaper Design. We asked you, our community, to create a series of 4 wallpapers that will be pre-installed on (2a) Community Edition when it goes on sale later this year. We were looking for ideas that would complement our winning hardware concept by @Astrid and @Kenta … and you delivered!
Today, we are very excited to announce @Andres_123 as our Stage 2: Wallpaper Design winner! 🏆
Andres, who is an Art Director from Madrid, developed and submitted the winning concept: Connected Collection:
"The proposal is based on community connections and materializes them by assimilating them to machines connectors, opening a world of cables, pipes, microchips and components that form random routes. Something that could seem chaotic, if focused, becomes something harmonious that works perfectly as the global community of Nothing.
At a graphic level, the starting point has been the hardware design approved in phase #01, which has served to provide color and shape to the circuits. There are two colorways, turquoise and monochrome. All of them are encapsulated within a transparent shell with curved shapes, which allows you to see some parts of this complex but wonderful community.
All the entire creative process has been led by the search for references. The circuits are designed using several AI tools until I achieved the desired quality and composition. The blueprints of each circuit have been drawn by hand in Illustrator and the pattered glass work and final composition have been developed in Photoshop" - Andres
To arrive at the winning concept, our internal jury, comprised of Mladen and Ken, shortlisted entries based on how closely they met the brief, their originality and their creative process. Community votes were consulted to find our final candidates and overall winner:
Andres’ overall effort, creatively layered process and high-quality final output have awarded him the winner of Stage 2: Wallpaper Design.
The approach impressively combined hand-drawn elements and a variety of tools for sketching, digitalising, AI generating, and post-editing to create a unique, layered, and rich process. Leading him to create a set of designs that would look at home on (2a) Community Edition’s phospherence-inspired hardware.
A unique concept that naturally feels part of Nothing’s DNA. Well done, Andres! - Mladen & Ken
Andres will now embark on the co-creation process alongside our Software Design team. Throughout the journey, the concept may go through several iterations - so watch this space for updates. When we asked Andres how it felt being selected as our Stage 2 winner:
Once again, we received a huge number of inspiring submissions from the community, and will be sending a prize to a few runners-up as recognition for their work (be sure to check your emails). Thank you to everyone who took the time to create wallpapers for (2a) Community Edition. We received over 130 submissions!
So, what’s next?
There are still two stages left of the Community Edition Project: Packaging Design and the Marketing Campaign.
Stage 3: Packaging Design submissions open on 3 June so stay tuned for the full brief!
I hope you’ll join us in congratulating our stage 2 winner, @Andres_123! 🥳
