Retro-Futuristic EDC
The theme I’ve decided to base this flatlay on is “Retro-Futuristic Everyday Carry”, and includes tech and everyday items from varying periods of history. I chose the colour white, as it has always been associated with modernity, think spaceship interiors etc. (Black was a close second for me but I just didn’t have that many things in black lol)
Nothing products have always been an amazing example of futuristic design, from hardware to software. (Even in packaging, right up there next to Apple) Inversely, I included some arguably ancient stuff here, including the Panasonic keypad phone (idk the exact name) with a really cool slide-out keypad and dedicated camera button. Also when speaking of white coloured tech, the thing that usually comes to mind is Apple’s AirPods, that kickstarted the lucrative wireless earbuds industry.
Here’s a few behind-the-scenes photos, I used a plain black cutting mat as a backdrop to have some contrast, and my Nikon as the camera. Had to get creative with the tripod, as a normal setup would have the legs in the shot, so I tilted it forward by a pretty questionable degree (hence the bottle as counterweight) to get that perfect top-down view.
(PS, one tip I live by is to not forget to clean the devices, especially those with glossy finishes. I typically use some Blutack to remove dust in areas difficult to clean like between the camera lenses)
