I’ve received the ear(1)'s three days ago and with a couple of hours of listening, this is what I think:
The sound is pretty good but the way they are equalized doesn’t really fit my usual listening style so I’d really like to reevaluate them once a real equalizer (hopefully) gets added to the app. The bass is good, I’d say on par with the air pods pros, treble is to my ears a bit harsh and I’d tone it down a bit in the equalizer, I found the biggest problem in the mids though, they are lacking, that makes mainly vocal songs sound a bit underwelming and flat.
The fit is really good, and I dont feel like they will come out on their own, even when running or jumping. The weight surely plays a role in this.
The paring process on android is really good, with the popup that appears on the home screen of the phone once you open the case.
Sadly the latency is pretty noticable (I’m pretty sensitive to it), I wouldn’t watch a movie with them.
As far as ANC goes I havent been able to test it because when I activate it a strange noise begins to play only in my right earbud, it’s a strange sound, nothing to do with the background hissing sound that sometimes some ANC devices have. It’s more like the interference that sometimes you hear when holding a phone near a microphone. I’ve sent an email two days ago to the customer service that’s accessible through the website but haven’t heard back. I really hope I can solve this problem because at the moment the ANC is unusable.
The build quality is really good, there are just two areas where I think it could get better: the first one is the hinge wich isn’t really tight and has a bit of play side to side. The second are the grey prints on the case: the front “ear (CASE)” and the back ones. In real life they are really hard to read, way harder than the photos suggest.
Fortunately I think that most of my gripes with these earbuds could be solved (hopefully soon) through software updates.
In this “review” I’ve expressed all the things that if solved could make (at least for me) a perfect pair of earbuds. That said I’m totally concius that the ear(1) are 99$ and some compromises need to be made.
Going back to my ANC problem has anybody had the same issue?
I really hope to hear soon from the customer service.
