Nothing Phone 2a brightness automatically dims when watching YouTube shorts

Hi,

Great phone.

But the brightness automatically dims when watching YouTube Shorts is irritating me.

I’ve set the Screen timeout to 1 minute of inactivity, the same as my other phones. But only NP2a automatically dims after 1 minute whenever I’m watching YouTube Shorts, since most of the YT Shorts are 1 minute long, so after the video restarts, it will automatically dim which is very annoying, and I found no issue on YouTube videos in landscape mode.
I have not tested this on TikTok, Instagram, etc. since I’m only watching YouTube shorts on this phone.

I can resolve this by setting the screen timeout to 2 minutes of inactivity or I can keep touching the screen during the 1-minute short videos, which is very troublesome, but I believe Nothing should resolve this bug because other phones don’t have this bug at all.

Or if anyone has any other solution or some settings adjustment that can help me on this, will be much appreciated.

That is a ridiculous problem, that IPhone don’t have. The device knows that it’s playing content and doesn’t turn off even if you don’t tocuh the disply. The fact that Android does is a joke.

I contacted Nothing’s Support Team, and they asked me to disable the Adaptive Brightness feature. Now my phone’s brightness isn’t adjusting automatically when watching YT Shorts, but I don’t want to have to manually adjust it all the time. They also asked me to take a video, but I don’t want to use a separate phone or camera to do that while I’m using my phone. Seems a bit ridiculous, don’t you think?
