Ladle
Ladle Could there be a non-playstore-distributed version that avoids other developers having to go through the play store submission process
The app Nodes will be distributed via Google Play, that does not involve other developers to go through the Google Play submission process (while this is the preferable option, both for the developer and the user).
Ladle direct install would not be an option if Nodes itself is distributed by the play store. That would be against Google Play policy.
Direct installs are not an option anyway, I want the app to be a container where the user can discover apps that are designed in Nothing style, and where the user can get information about the apps (so also the download link), but the app will not handle the download and installation of the apps (the user must conscientiously do this action).
Ali Fakhruddin This store could have both links. One that could direct them to Playstore and the other for GitHub or even direct install for Apks. However many would want to have a secured installation.
The app will have one link, it will be preferred the Google Play link if an app has both Github (or any git powered site) and Google Play, to avoid unnecessary friction to the average user (where to download? how to update an app? Where is the privacy policy?)
Also having a Google Play link allows me via code to get the app icon, title and description, without writing myself those fields.
