Display rotation behaviour while riding

While navigating with the phone 2a on my Motobike mounted in landscape the screen rotation gets triggered to rotate 180degrees very often, when I hit street bumbs. It’s annoying.

You can manually trigger that, just pretend a fast movement and it flips the screen..

I am also facing this nagging issue when I used my phone for navigation on my motorcycle. I have attached a video of the issue –>

I have reported this issue on feedback section, Request #644034.

I use only one phone, cannot afford to keep another phone only for navigation duties. This is a bit of a disappointed from an otherwise fantastic phone. I hope Nothing is able to fix this issue at the earliest.

San_am just turn off auto rotate bro ..and use force rotation option in bottom left whenever tilted…it solved for me

Good suggestion. It stops the weird rotation of screen.

But I do not keep the screen on all the time during my rides. Every time I press power button to turn on the screen to see the map, I have to find the that small icon and touch it to switch and lock the screen in landscape mode. Trust me, it’s dangerous!

San_am In my pov…i would suggest not to hold your phone on that mobile holder when u don’t use it…a frnd of mine always kept his phone on holder no matter he uses it or not …in long run..it damaged his camera focus/stability sensor (idk the exact issue) and the whole camera stability is rigged..His whole camera unit was replaced last month…. he’s using iphone 14(fyr)

Thank you.. I use it purely for navigation only when needed, otherwise the phone safely resides in my pocket :-)

Even pixel phones are prone to the issue you mentioned.

I Guess every phone act this way, it is not an OS issue, when you hit a bump the orientation sensor receives that input. As suggested either you lock the rotation or use it in portrait (or put something that acts like a shock absorber).

I can positively say that this is not an issue with all phones. I have been using the same phone holder, same orientation with my previous phone (MI A2), Seen my friends using other phones in a similar way but haven’t come across this behaviour.

San_am my bad, “a lot of phones”, not any phone. Orientation sensor readings also depends on the brand manufacturer of the sensor itself, where is positioned on the device and the force of the bump. I positively say that is not an OS issue.

I do not know if it is an issue with OS or hardware, but it’s certainly an issue with Nothing Phone 2A. Just brought it up on the forum as it seemed like Nothing, as a company, is ears to customer complaints.
