Improves the crackling/distortion quite a lot but at the cost of some volume.

Its a good fix until Pei gets around to doing something about it.

Gun_Put I am aware that there is a workaround for this issue using a third-party app but we didn’t purchase this device to rely on random workarounds for most basic functionality.

It’s crucial to highlight that this fix has been pending for a long time and needs to be acknowledged and addressed in the upcoming updates.

SusovanSaha Well, the speaker issue has been highlighted many times over many months.

I dare say N is well aware of this issue by now.

Until they get around to tuning it properly, we can at least make our usage pleasant by workarounds.

Rest is in Mr Pei’s hands.

Gun_Put tuning? I don’t think it’s tuning anymore the hardware behaves like that. I went to a service centre the units there sounded the same and had distortion.

But if you mean the main headphone while answering calls .. yes it’s not that good

KamiKaze Wavelet helps to cut distortion/crackling noises by cutting down the output dB from 500 HZ to 4k HZ & boosting the bass frequencies.

The sacrifice is volume, esp in the vocal range frequencies.

That is what is meant by tuning.

But what we as users are able to do with wavelet are coarse adjustments.

An engineer specialising in audio tuning can make far more granular adjustments to make the speaker sound pleasant & minimize distortions,subject of course to hardware quality of the speakers - bottom & earpiece that N uses.

I would urge you to plz go to the YT channel of Nothing, look up a video posted by Carl wherein he talks about how a gifted amateur in the US helped them tune their Ear 2 TWS to sound much better than what the N engineers had done.

That’s what hardware tuning is all about.

Gun_Put DMS isn’t an amateur lol. He’s a decently respected audio reviewer.

Also regarding adding a high pass filter to the earpiece. The cause of the issue is that the driver can’t handle those amplitudes when the earpiece driver on other brands can. In the event they do change the amplification on the earpiece users would complain that it’s not as loud anymore which would make more people complain. Which is why I said there’s no fixing the speaker beyond how it behaves right now.

I’m a day 1 user of NP2 and the first or second update they pushed decreased earpiece amplification as a “fix”. Quite frankly I don’t want it to get any quieter than they already made it.

KamiKaze My point in bringing up the help DMS gave to N in making the Ear 2 sound better was to highlight the fact that the engineers working for N are not skilled enough to even identify that a problem exists leave alone fix it.

Hence N needs to get hold of a skilled person to fix the below par performance of the internal speakers.

You seem to think that the problem is unfixable with better tuning because the speaker modules are of sub par quality.

Now it’s really upto N to tell us what the real reason is.

This issue started from the 2.0.4 update. Still now it haven’t got fixed. Disappointed with nothing phone 2.

It’s a known & widely reported issue.

Some users have hypothised that the speakers need better tuning by Nothing’s engineers, others state the speakers modules are of mediocre quality & tuning will not help.

The company has not responded so far.
