System storage size of NOS.

Guys recently I have purchased 2a and haven’t installed any apps only using YouTube as of till now will backup the other things later. But when seeing my storage I was shocked because without installing any apps or anything my storage has been increased from 17gb to 19gb while seeing it in the settings it shows that the storage occupied from the system has been increased from 12gb to 16gb. So I tried clearing the cache of YouTube and YouTube music but still the storage occupied by the System hasn’t been resolved yet. Can you guys provide me a solution

Hi everyone,

One friend of mine was just showing some cool features of his S23 and I noticed that there system storage was around 20GB. When I looked at mine it was 25GB at that time.

That makes me think what exactly is system storage? I know it does contain entire OS but it does vary user to user sometimes, OS version and all.

I noticed the Ram booster was on with 2GB boosted ram. When I turned it off the system storage reduced to 23GB.

How does samsung with more features with dex have low system storage then NOS?

NOS doesn’t even have Bloatware apartment from google apps. Samsung have full set of their apps which can’t be deleted. Then how NOS is still taking more space?

What it contains apart from OS? (I don’t think it is app data)

Is NOS is not optimised? Or something else is going on?

I use Phone 2. 128GB is more than enough for me I just want to know what the thing with other OS.

guys I’ve been using NP2 256GB variant over 11 months now. as i can see, my system takes around 44GB of space. i honestly feel Nothing needs to optimize the software and make it storage efficient for people who require all that space. If needed, they should completely redesign and remove aosp and stock while making nothing OS down to the core of system, making it storage efficient as well as faster.

I have compared Nothing Phone 2, Nothing Phone 2a and Pixel 9 Pro:

NP2: 18 GB system storage (2.6)

NP2a: 17 GB system storage (3.0)

Pixel 9 Pro: 18 GB system storage (Android 15)

So there’s nearly no difference on my devices …
