Imagine a phone that has the backplate swappability of the CMF Phone 1, but this time, there’s an I/O interface. Characterized by a 24-contact pad array on the underside of the backplate, this new interface is just a modified USB-C interface with the phone. This allows anything to go back there, such as an extra battery to improve battery life, a larger camera sensor, a game controller, whatever the community can imagine.

This gives me serious Moto Z vibes or, where I think Essential were going with the PH1, I seem to remember them having a connector which took a camera, etc.

Great idea. I think that’s a build on the modular approach that CMF are using on Phone(1). Might make the phone more expensive but, would be far more expansive.
