Hi mate, do you have battery optimisation on? If so, switch it off. Also, clear app cache. And, clear Nothing launcher cache too.
I’d also suggest logging this with the WhatsApp support team, this is a common complaint with WhatsApp not just for Nothing devices and, I’ve experienced it across Pixels, Huaweis & Nothing phones too.
