As you all might have noticed, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, while incredibly powerful, sometimes feels a bit held back in our Phone 2. This is likely due to the NothingOS locking the CPU and GPU frequencies much below their original clock speeds to preserve battery life and maintain reasonable temperatures. While these are important considerations, I believe there’s room for improvement."
What it would do:
* Unlock the CPU/GPU: Allow users to manually override the current frequency limits and potentially access closer to the original clock speeds of the CPU and GPU.
* Adjust the Thermal Throttle: Slightly increase the thermal throttle limit (maybe to 42-43°C) to allow for higher sustained performance, especially in warmer conditions.
Why it’s needed:
* For those who prioritize peak performance, this mode would unlock the true potential of our devices.
* It would provide a much-needed option for users who require maximum performance for demanding applications.
* Important Note: This mode should be strictly optional. It would be enabled only when needed, and disabled for everyday use to maintain excellent battery life.
I think this “Extreme Performance” mode would be a fantastic addition to our Phone 2. It would give us more control over our devices and allow us to truly utilize the power we’re paying for.
