First off: Congrats to the first public release and thanks for your dedication creating Nothing themed apps!
I am mostly pleased with Noting Notes, however so far I can only give an initial impression and didn’t really dive too deep into it. The interface was a bit confusing at first, with the seperation between folders and all notes divided between two categories (Personal/Work), I initially looked to create new categories, but quickly realized that’s what the folders will be used for.
I think for what you are going with, creating a mostly simple and basic, not overloaded notes app, that system of two categories, folder and tasks is good enough. However I do have some suggestions or random thoughts:
- Folders: It would be nice being able to do some sort of further customization for the folders overview. If you just have two or three folders, that’s not an issue, but if one has five, six or even more it might be better getting some additional visual support helping you seeing at first glance what you are looking for, I am thinking about maybe colored dots or hues for the folders. Maybe even take a hint from Nothing Launchers and offer optional icons to be selected?
- Folders: I didn’t find an option to rename a folder, I can only delete them. Might not be the worst issue, but if you recognize a misspelled folder after adding a bunch of notes, you’d have to delete it and create a new one.
- Google: I get that it’s nice to have it synced with Google, as it helps you easily to backup your notes and especially migrate them when you switch to a different phone or even simply use multiple devices. But it would still be kind of nice to offer some sort of “Offline” option, which stores the data localoy with just an import/export option.
- Formatting: I know you’d want to keep it as simple as possible, but I am wondering if at least some basic formatting options could be helpful? I am thinking about things like bulletins, bold, underlined and italic.
- Locking: I think it has already been mentioned, but of course it would be convenient if we could just use the fingerprint sensor to unlock the locked notes.
I am looking forward to the Pro version and might purchase it.
