Recently got the Nothing Phone (2) and it’s actually impressively good for a second generation product for Nothing.
Battery could easily get me 8-9hrs of SoT, phone is quick and smooth with really good ui, etc. A great phone on its own.
I’ve previously had many phones: iPhone 6s, Samsung S10, iPhone 13 Mini & Google Pixel 6. All of them great and pretty bang average phones that are reliable but none of them have really excelled at battery life like the Nothing Phone (2) has, with the 13 mini being the closest surprisingly.
I’ve never been a really heavy user but I’m definitely above the light users. I average around 4-5hrs of SoT mostly on Instagram and WhatsApp being my most used apps (mostly for messaging my friends & family in Europe and West Coast US) while also using the phone for producitivity, research & more.
Thanks to the glyph interface I don’t have to consistently being checking my screen or AOD (they aren’t always consistent and sometimes delay notifications on a lot of phones) which increases battery usage a lot. With the Nothing phone (2) I can calmly be doing other stuff while occasionally checking for the essential glyph if I’m waiting for a message, check to see how far my Uber is at a glance, see the progress of my timer &, recently, make sure I’m on time to my next appointment or shift thanks to the integration with the Google Calendar.
The glyph interface, while may seem like a gimmick to some, has helped me reduce my SoT and concentrate on the important things in my life while still being connected. Its just seamless for me, it makes sense, its helpful and has helped me increase my productivity by just making my phone less of a tool that needs consistent attention to not miss anything and more like an extension of me where I can know whats going by just glancing half a second to it.
So, Carl Pei and the whole Nothing Team, thank you. You’ve made the perfect phone for me and made me want to be a part of your community.
