How could I stop an individual app to not consuming data from wifi and mobile network.

Is there any option to turn off mobile data to one particular app if its there please help me with that if not i would be really helpful if it is added

Hello First, enter the info section of the desired program and disable the background data option. Next, go to the settings section of the phone and select wifi control and disable the access of the desired program.

I want to restrict foreground data usage as well. I use MX player to play videos. It has online section if i accidentally tap it, it consumes so much data. So I want to stop both foreground and background use of data.

My previous device had options to block network access for particular apps in phone. So even if the data or WiFi is on that app could not use it.

This was really helpful to get rid of unwanted ads in game. I used to block network access of games to avoid ads. It was also useful when I want to be offline on WhatsApp & use my phone normally otherwise.

But I could not find such options in NP2A Only options it has… is to block background data. I want to block both background & foreground data for particular apps

PIRATEBABU Haha! I use it for the same purpose! It is named after “network management” on my phone (not Nothing), but I think it’s part of android, so search it in the settings, and it might turn up.

PIRATEBABU For this you can always try to use AdGuard’s DNS. It blocks most ads and trackers, so you’ll get similar results. Go to “settings>network and internet>private DNS”, select “private DNS provider hostname” and enter dns.adguard-dns.com

Try long-pressing the app icon. Do you have something along the lines of App info > Data usage? If you do, do you also have Disable mobile data and Disable Wi-Fi?

I am a Phone(1) user and I’ve noticed that there is no option to restrict data to any app individually. In my old Realme phone, it had the option in app info to restrict internet usage by any app. I would not get any kind of notification until i turn off that option or open the app. For example, if I restricted data to WhatsApp, I wouldn’t recieve any messages in background, I would also appear offline. While in the background my Internet/Wifi would be on and I could use other apps. Only when I open WhatsApp or if I had turned off the option,I would recieve the messages. Hopefully, I wish to recieve this feature in future updates.

What you might want to consider is limiting ‘background data’ to do this

Settings >Apps > Select app > Mobile data and Wi-Fi > Toggle background data off

On whatsapp for example, this will only bring you notifications when you open the app as there’ll be no data being used when the app is in the background

Or you can set up a data limit but this is phone wide and not app specific

Network & Internet > SIMs > data warning & limit > Set data limit toggle on > set data limit

hrry Thank you for replying, I have tried the same long back ago, but I still recieve messages. As you can see in the screenshot attached below, even if the background data is off I have recieved a whatsapp notification

Hey 👋

To my knowledge, this is because some push notifications and advertisements are actually handled by Google Play Services. Cached content may also be displayed.

These type of push notifications usually use minimal to no data in the background.
