The LEDs will be under the palm of your hand while using it. I guess LEDs only on the sides would have been more meaningful. Also, a small mouse is not comfortable. You may also design a mouse pad with LEDs near the edges on 3 sides (top, left and right obviously), which behave like moving lights, according to the mouse movement, wheel scroll, and button clicks.
