After seeing the recent announcement for the community edition project, i thought it would be a great time to share a recent discovery.
If you head on over to nothing.tech, the 2a product page has a 3d model preview that you can view in 360. If you go to inspect element on this page there is a link to download that file as .glb
The white model is also available if you switch the preview model using the colour selector.
For those of you who arent familiar with .glb, it is a very versatile file type for 3D data. Some uses include 3D modelling, printing, and even preview/embeds. This file type also allows for AR implementation.
This file type is also compatiable with one of the most popular, accessible, feature rich, and most importantly FREE piece of software - Blender.
Using the import option, or loading the file directly will place the model in your scene.
Almost every aspect of this model is seperate and freely editable as shown in the scene collection pane.
The only part of the model that isn’t editable is the internal design itself because it is just an image texture. You can however remove it or swap it out with alternative textures and materials.
This model could be extremely useful for many different purposes, but if you do end up using it for the community edition project then you may just want to play around, changing materials and textures of the individual parts.
Super quick example above.
I hope this is helpful to some of you and i cant wait to see what creations you come up with, for both personal projects and the community edition project.
I have compressed both the white and black models in a zip file. Should that not work, please see the solution above.
