I’ve been a Nothing Phone 2 user since October 23. The phone is good and I’m enjoying the smoothness of the software but many a times I realise that there are a few shortcomings when it comes to functionality. I’m listing down a few below. Hope the team reads through this post and improves the software experience.
- One handed mode doesn’t allow access to the entire screen. Only the top half of the screen is available to use and the bottom half along with the action buttons disappear. Doesn’t make sense.
- Call history not accessible from contact details - In case I want to know when, how frequently and how long I speak to some particular person, i can’t do so by going into their contact details. I’ll have to manually keep scrolling through my calls and finding the calls made to that person. Too cumbersome.
- Recording history not in one place - same as above in pt 2 for call recordings. Audio recordings done otherwise do get shown within the recorder app but locating call recordings is just impossible after a month or two. I have used a Xiaomi phone previously and the recorder app in that phone housed both call as well as other recordings within it. Quite easy to access and use.
- Option to delete messages from the notification tray - come on, i don’t want to keep all the messages i receive. Won’t it be great if i can easily delete them as soon as they get displayed in my notification tray and save only the ones i think I might ever need? Will also help to find any messages later on.
- As I was going through my call history and looking for a call made to an electrician whose contact number i hadn’t saved unfortunately, i noticed that call calls made or received between 25th April 2023 to 12th May 2024 aren’t getting displayed. I wonder how and why and if I’ll ever be able to recover them. In my case, i had to ask someone to share the contact with me again.
- The position of the fingerprint unlock is exactly over where the call disconnect button when a call is in progress. So, when the display goes off while on call and I want to wake the display up, I’ve accidentally disconnected the calls many times.
Hope these little glitches are resolved soon and make the experience even better for existing users while Nothing keeps working on better products.
