Why are some of my notifications silent?

Hey there, I have had my new phone for one week now and still haven’t really changed from my old one, I want to just have a look at the device before I make the switch. It is a great phone and I really like it but there are a few things that I simply cannot understant. Maybe you can explain:

There are Apps that, when a notification is received, it will be at the bottom under “silent”. Why is that the case? I cannot find any explanation and reason for that after installing the App and I don’t find a way to fix that.

I have more questions, now first I’m curious if I get an answer.

This is mostly controlled by the app itself.

Thank you for letting me know this. I just find it interesting for the App to decide whats important. It’s correct, It wasnt really an important notification but what if I want it to be imortant? Isnt there a way to decide if I want it silent or not?

Horrorpodcast Yes you can - long press on an app or go to Settings > App Info > find the app in question > Notifications and go through each notification category you want to change (some apps have more than others). You can choose Priority, Default or Silent plus you can change the sound and other settings for each notification type.

Hello, the problem is that all WhatsApp notifications are changed to silent automatically. Yesterday my phone decided to change all whatsapp contacts to silence and I didn’t hear about any whatsapp.
