Bro thatโs how HDR works. HDR is not about this high contrasting look. People always think HDR is this very bright, saturated, contrasting look. Itโs not about that.
HDR is about seeing more in the shadows and bright areas.
When you switch to landscape, thatโs when it gets activated.
Read and do the demo yourself(demo below)
Go to 0:19 and pause the video and put fullscreen. Click on the comments button. Now click somewhere on the video to get rid of the pause/play button. Now watch the bottom of the kettle where there is shadow. Now switch to recents menu and come back into the app back and forth. You can clearly see the shadows at the bottom of the kettle is more visible while you are in full screen landscape mode.
Watch the bottom of the kettle. When you are not in HDR mode, It switches to 8-bit, the shadows get crushed and black and everything looks very bright and contrasty.
When you are in HDR mode, it shows details in the shadows below the kettle.
The best way to see the difference is to put the phone landscape.
Hereโs a demo that you should try yourself to see the what HDR really is. In the video below you wonโt see the difference obviously. You should try on your own.
