Charging Issue with Phone (2) and Samsung 25W PD Adapter

I’m writing to share a recurring issue I’ve been experiencing with my Nothing Phone (2) when using a Samsung 25W PD adapter.

The problem lies in the adapter’s compatibility with my device. While it does charge the phone, I’ve noticed that the charging process is inconsistent. The connection frequently disrupts, leading to intermittent charging. This behavior is particularly frustrating as it happens quite often.

To add to the annoyance, this issue seems to be specific to the Samsung adapter. When I use other chargers, the charging process remains stable, without any interruptions.

I’m curious if anyone else in the community has encountered similar problems with their Nothing Phone and Samsung PD adapters. If so, have you found any solutions or workarounds?

thesunjrs this issue seems to be specific to the Samsung adapter. When I use other chargers, the charging process remains stable, without any interruptions.

Check the charger if it supports PPS or not. PPS is based on PD 3.0 but that doesn’t mean all PD 3.0 chargers have PPS. I read it in Reddit and some other websites that CMF Phone 1 requires PPS protocol. Though this is weird that a phone requires PPS to fully utilise the fast charging even though that tech is based on PD. You can check the output of the charger and if it has PPS it will be written as “PPS Output“ alongside PD.

Sourav_Satvaya yes it has pps as output. first i thought my adaptor has manufacturing defect, but I’ve seen a lot of people using the new 25w adaptor and facing the same issue. and afterall i got a solution that if i use apple’s adaptor then it’s fine. but i just want to know if samsung applied something in their new adaptor which, maybe exclusive to their phones only.

I personally use the 25 Watts charger of Samsung ever since I bought my phone I have never experienced any problem with the charging system

I’d suggest get respective phones charger than other brands. they have better compatibility like every other brand.

thesunjrs Mine isn’t the new adapter I bought it long ago I guess these new adapters have issues.

Same issues here, but i have this phone 2 since 9 months today and i’ve this problem just by the last month. My charger is a Huawei.

Could It be some software stuff??

I had nothing phone 1 and right now I have phone 2, and this happened to both. I don’t know why this has stopped in the last week, now is working good

Also I thought it was a problem of the charger. I will keep testing

Hi, I also have the 25W Samsung charger and never had an issue with the Nothing Phone (2), at least not with the first one I got last year. With my new Nothing Phone (2), the display keeps activating and beeping randomly during charging - but not always. Charging also seems to take a bit longer when that happens. I don’t know if it is an issue which was introduced with OS 2.6 or if it is some sort of hardware glitch. I am using the Samsung charger for essentially all my devices and no issues on those.

Coldpaw exactly I’m facing the same issue in which it randomly turns on display and beeps.

i hope it’s a software glitch and they solve it in upcoming update.

Is this really an “issue”? You are complaining about charging your Nothing Phone with a weak Samsung charger does not work properly?

The same holds true for Samsung, Google and Apple as well. The software is optimised for their own original hardware so I do not see any “problems” here…

You could also use Renault wheels on your Ferrari and it will probably work somehow. But I am sure it won’t work as it was meant to and nobody would complain 😃
