Orange State Problem

Hi,there!

I received a Nothing Phone (2a) from someone, and the current version is Nothing OS 2.5.6 (Build number: Pacman-U2.5-240511-2021-EEA). I want to update to 2.6 but did not find any newer version. The phone was bootloader unlocked, and I locked it after I received. When I reboot into system, it says" Orange State: OS Not Being Verified Or Custom OS. Dismiss After 5 Seconds." How can I fix the problem and update to the newest version? Thank you!

Shiro_ZjUiUWQbGa Hi, do features like Google Pay, etc work? The orange state notification is Android’s way of telling you that the bootloader has been unlocked. I’d research into how to properly make sure you’ve locked the bootloader and complete this process safely

The lack of OTA updates might be due to the fact your bootloader is still unlocked. I’d also reccommend contacting Nothing support but, I doubt they’d be able to assist in the bootloader issue as it’s not a manufactures reccommend action.

hrry Thank you for the gentle help! I just checked my unlock status on my adb tool and found it still unlocked!

I was so dumb to ignore the message on the screen said “hold volume up key to lock”… Now I successfully locked it and the orange state message is no longer appearing.

About the OTA issue, I still cannot receive any update push, I tried Offline OTA manually with OTA incremental archives but found my build number (Pacman-U2.5-240511-2021-EEA) is not in any of them. The closest one is Pacman_U2.5-240522-1818_2.5.6.

Shiro_ZjUiUWQbGa ah brilliant. I’d contact support regarding the software updates. It might be the device is running beta software and needs their intervention to push an update. To start though I’d be inclined to do a reset if you’re able to.
