I am honestly very satisfied with Nothing OS in its current state aside from the UI of the quick settings panel. (I noticed that Carl stated something along those lines too in the NOS 3.0 introduction video)
The quick settings panel of NOS 3.0 is definitely an improvement, but there was a prototype shown in the introductory video that instantly attracted me. It has been on my mind ever since and I kind of wish the team had taken this route. (Image attached below for reference)

While I can definitely understand why this was rejected in its current state (brightness meter should be lower, lot of space taken by the first 3 settings etc) I do believe with some experimentation this would have been something entirely different and unique in the market.
What’s the thought process of the design team in regards to how they experiment on existing design philosophies and what is the process of knowing which ideas to reject and which to develop further ?
