I opened the big announcement e-mail and was excited to read that we have partnered with a local carrier. It opens up an opportunity to not only buy the phone at an affordable cost but also a timely update wouldn’t be that expensive on the pocket anymore. Wishing the team good luck with this partnership and hope it works in our favour.

Previously when we had partnered with O2 in the beginning days, I did a small survey with the employees of the store and found some caveats:

Lack of brand awareness(the retail space for Nothing was small compared to other Brands)
Competitive (almost neck-to-neck) pricing with other more familiar brands, customers go with more well-known brands
Complimentary offers and deals are other factors impacting the customer’s decision-making
At least with O2 most of the time, Youngsters knew what they wanted but for someone older, if they recommended Nothing the glyphs were not helping ( they found it very sophisticated and wanted simple things)

I did a quick check on EE’s webpage and some of these caveats still exist. Below are some images comparing the pricing and offering with other familiar brands.

As a community how do you think we can iron out these caveats and help the brand grow further?

iambhuvan I saw that email too and was like oh that’s a positive sign and didn’t think too much about it. Then I saw your post and your observations about O2 etc are valid points and interesting. The pricing for the phone what I can tell is priced with some not bad devices, Galaxy S24, iPhone 13 etc. I wonder does the 2a have enough draw to sell it a carrier setting. I mean, the other devices while boring have more richer apps, think of gallery and photos than the 2a currently. The pricing seems rather high considering the target of the device. My quick checking 36 months contract at 35 gbp is well over 1,000. I mean you be better off buying a better phone and get a good sim monthly contract or pay go possibly.

I due wonder how much say EE has in the pricing vs Nothing. It’s a great device of course we all know that, might be considered niche still or a targeted audience, but if they priced it cheaper with the carrier could it sell better especially given your points mentioned. I guess time will tell and it works out. If anything I hope it paves the road for a Phone 3 launch and rollout which perhaps this a stepping stone to that.

iambhuvan great Collab however we would like to know if this could be world wide, as per the image this would be only available in European market. It would be great if we can have the same world wide facility however the currency would differ.

I too was super excited to hear about this news. Initially I first discovered Phone (1) through O2 and that’s where my relationship with the brand began.

Exposure is super important, especially to bring the products to those who arent enthusiasts. Carrier sites and retail space is a huge part of that, and for devices such as these I think it’s incredibly helpful to try them in person.

I still think theres a ways to go, but this is a good step forward, and I appreciate the work the team are doing to achieve this.

When it comes to pricing, I’m not entirely sure how this works. I would imagine EE are responsible for a lot of this, as most of it is probably paying for the service they provide, and not necessarily the device itself. But to most people browsing the website, and the retail store, they might not necessarily understand this and as you’ve mentioned, will likely move toward something a little more familiar at a slightly different price.

But it looks like it makes nothing phone seem to be same price as iphones and pixel at the first glance as the emi looks only a few bucks difference. People might think “oh I can buy iphone with just a few bucks more” until they check the no of months they have to pay

Device cost is as per the market value but the whole package makes it not interesting or rather misleading to make it look expensive/ overpriced compared to others.
The other big players who operate at a much higher profit margin can collectively bear the loss of 5 to 10£ per device and for Nothing it is not possible as it stands.

This is where I keep repeating that if we know what we want we will be happy with that purchase but often we jump into the trend or do not question before making a decision, What do you guys think?

Well said, and I think the above images quite rightly sums up and affirms what you said. I would assume that the terms are primarily laid out by EE and Nothing wouldn’t have much to say.
Hope this brings more attention to the brand and is a fruitful venture for both parties.

@obakesan Bhai, That’s going to be everyone’s first impression and for people like you and others in the community, it is a great opportunity to grab Phone (3) at a very affordable price and could act as additional marketing for the Brand.

Let’s wait and see how this evolves.

@aniketrege1991 Yes, it would be great I can’t remember if this was brought up earlier in one of the forums for nothing to have its subscription model. But I think most of these are dictated by the market requirements.
