The CMF Phone has been on sale since a couple of months, this is the only known case so far. Personally I doubt it is a widespread issue which people should panic about, otherwise we’d already habe seen more reports of further accidents.
For example the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which pretty much is the most prominent exploding phone, had the first cases appear literally days after it has been released with more reports became public every few days.
Nevertheless I am pretty sure Nothing is looking in to this, but it might also simply be too early to make any kind of public statement. Unless this happens, we can pretty much only speculate about the cause.
