After purchasing the latest generation of Nothing Ear and feeling somewhat disappointed with the transparency mode (light-years behind Apple), I decided to buy the Nothing Ear (Open). I thought it would be a great option to replace my over-ear headset at work, where I need to be available 8–9 hours a day talking to clients.
Initial Comfort Issues
The first few days, I felt discomfort behind my left ear. Every ear is different, and in my case, one fit perfectly while the other started to hurt after 1–2 hours.
Tip to Avoid Discomfort
The customization options for fitting these earbuds are incredible. I recommend not trying to make them fit too snugly on the upper and, especially, the back part of your ear. I position the earbud stem slightly outward from my ear, and since then, the pain has disappeared.
Another interesting observation is that the silicone stem seems to be adapting more to my ear over time. How do I know? When I place the earbuds back into their charging case, they now sit differently—one of them remains slightly “floating” because the silicone part has subtly molded to my ear.
Fit for Large Ears
I have large ears and was worried they wouldn’t fit well. In the end, the speaker portion sits more externally on my ear, not as close to the ear canal as with other users. I believe dismissing these earbuds based on first impressions would be a mistake. I started truly loving them after 4–5 days of use—initially, I was a bit disappointed with their ergonomics, but now I can’t stop using them.
Glasses Compatibility
Another concern I had was whether they would work well with my glasses. In my case, the answer is a resounding YES. I’ve read reviews mentioning discomfort or interference with glasses, but I haven’t had any issues at all. I 100% recommend them for glasses wearers.
Sound Quality & Connectivity
The sound quality is brilliant. Personally, I even prefer the sound over the Nothing Ear. It doesn’t feel as compressed—it’s more natural. Perhaps it lacks some finer details, but it sounds fantastic, and the bass is surprisingly rich.
The dual connection feature is amazing. I have them linked to my work PC and my personal phone simultaneously, and switching between them is seamless—an absolute delight.
Final Thoughts
In summary, I couldn’t be happier with this purchase.
