HDR performance when streaming video

I just bought a Nothing Phone (2), OS ver. 2.0.4.

I try to play HDR videos on Youtube but I suddenly found the color is so dark, almost can’t seen. But desktop and text or wallpaper looks still great. Only HDR videos not working. I don’t have Netflix so I can’t compare. Is there any thing I need to setup ? (HDR display option is enabled already)

The screenshot you can see even the preview is much brighter than I saw.

Can anyone from Nothing or a moderator reply on this? Even after turning the settings on, why the hdr videos are darker? This is really annoying for a 50K ₹ phone

I’m facing the same issue on my Nothing Phone 2. Can someone from Nothing or a moderator atleast acknowledge this issue and give us a reply. Really disappointed that im not able to utilise the full capabilities of the screen. Also please bring HDR support to all the streaming platforms, it’s a waste of money to buy all premium subscriptions and pay so much for the Phone just to get below average screen experience.

I already update to Nothing OS 2.5.2, HDR display function enabled in Display, Youtube version 19.03.35 ( updated on Jan 19, 2024 ).

Still not display correctly yet in Youtube app.

In Youtube app you can see HDR option but the color is very dark. Every time you start to play the HDR videos you would see the screen suddenly become darker.

When you use browser app like chrome to watch, because no HDR function support in browser app, the color at least is normal (brighter than Youtube app).

Still don’t know what happened.

maclaren0804 Increase brightness manually and watch the auto brightness decreases the brightness it’s a software error

maclaren0804 Yes I’ve noticed that too. The same video is bright when played from browser is getting dim on YouTube with HDR content.

HDR is still not bright and inconsistent in YouTube.. didn’t check for other apps… when you touch the the notification bar HDR becomes good… then goes back to normal.

Yes , I’ve faced this too.. Apparently, more users have this issue. Not just in YouTube, but also in MX, VLC any other except for browsers where they don’t have auto brightness applied.

From the the nothing phone 2 had issues with HDR support they didn’t even give HDR certification for netflix which sucks but for YouTube too it doesn’t . While watching HDR content when we close the video for a split of second the display gets bright and then again gets normal why isn’t hdr working? I have turned it on from the display settings too no improvements till these many updates too and no one is talking about it kindly fix this issue it persists from the launch kindly look into this.

My phone 2 still doesn’t run hdr playback for hdr enabled YouTube videos and Disney hotstar. Leave Netflix and prime video alone cause they don’t give certification to phone 2 for hdr playback. And nothing even after 8 months of phone 2 launch didn’t resolved this even for YouTube but broo hdr make a lot of difference in colours and peek brightness so just play any hdr videos on youtube on 4k and lock the screen from youtube option

Like this and hdr runs smoothly bro they amount of difference it makes much prettier then the blant simple video

Nothing should fix this as the display has so much to offer but hdr software issue ruins this

I tried this in Disney hotstar they movie experience is different it add more colour depth to it and makes black go more black amazing

Just praying that they fix this in next update
