Flip to Glyph in Pocket

I put my phone (2) in my pocket & sat down on the couch to watch TV. The phone went to flip to glyph mode since my lap was kinda horizontal & I missed a few calls 🙂 . I couldn’t even see the glyph lights since thicc JEANS! Lol

malfunk It’s the downside of having glyphs. if the phone is flat AND the proximity sensor detects that it is blocked, then it will activate the glyphs mode. And it can happen while it is in a pocket

I am also facing the same issue..in pocket, the phone remains silent..

I am also facing the same problem, my nothing phone 1 went to silent to glyph mode in pocket. There should be an update to fix this problem where phone can detects that its in the pocket.

As soon as I turn the Glyph lights on, my phone starts going on silent even if my phone is in my pocket and I am sitting in my office, because it turns face down in pocket. Can anyone tell me some settings to avoid this? Also, is there a redial option in NOTHING PHONE 2?

PANIPATWOOLLENYARNCENTRE - the only way to avoid this is to turn “Flip to Glyph” off, unfortunately.

As others have mentioned in this, now merged, thread above it’s an unfortunate set of circumstances that your proximity sensor is triggered and the phone is laying flat. Hence the flip to Glyph to turn on.

Ealesy101 This means this Glyph feature is of no use. It is a kind of headache. If the feature has to be kept off to be able to know that there is an incoming call, then why provide this feature. The company should give an option in the programming to keep the phone in ringing mode when the phone is in flip to glyph mode.

Just keep the phone in your pocket with the screen turned outward.
That way, when you sit down the phone won’t be flipped and “Flip to Glyph” won’t activate.

It is designed to minimise distractions, by placing the screen face down, and only having the Glyph for notifications. No sound, no vibrations.

The issue here isn’t the feature itself, just the fact that your sitting position means it is activated whilst in your pocket and sat down.

If you need to be aware of calls whilst sat down, put your phone face up in your pocket, or not put it in your pocket at all.

Or turn off Flip to Glyph and leave your phone on vibrate or loud.

Second, it seems you just want to push your point. Don’t take me wrong. But, you seem to be not getting my point. If, in any situation, the user has to adjust according to a gadget, the user will end up not buying the gadget again. It is the gadget that should be modified and adjusted to users needs. At least, I will not buy another such phone, which has something special to display, but I cant display the feature because it turns my incoming calls notification off.

My point I am trying to make, is that your very ***specific ***circumstances are, unfortunately, resulting in you missing calls. I merely suggested other ways to position your phone, so that Flip to Glyph isn’t activated, whilst in your pocket.

Flip to Glyph silences the phone. That is the feature, that is the outcome you are experiencing. Turn it off if you want to feel/hear your calls whilst your phone is face down in your pocket. Or, kindly follow the suggestions I alluded to in my earlier reply.

It is your device, your money. Do with it as you will. Do not stoke the flames and exclaim about a feature that is only doing as advertised.
