Ear-Deafening Experience
I plugged my existing iFi Go-Link DAC (USB-C) with Apple Earphones (3.5mm) into the USB-C port of my newly bought Nothing Phone 2a.
The moment I played music, absolutely ear-deafening loud static noise came out of the earphones that I had plugged into my ears. It was a horrific experience.
This is the same DAC and earphones combo that I had been using with my previous two Android phones for quite some time - Moto G 5G and Redmi Note 8 Pro. So neither of these is the culprit here. It’s obviously something wrong with the Nothing Phone 2a.
After fiddling around a little, I figured out that the issue occurs only for a while after plugging in the DAC. After that, the DAC with earphones works perfectly fine as intended. Now the workaround I have to deploy to make it work properly with this phone is: Plug in the DAC, play some music, pause it, lock and unlock the phone, then plug in the earphones into the DAC and then the audio plays smoothly as intended. Otherwise, it will produce ear-deafening loud static noise. This procedure needs to be repeated every time the DAC is plugged in.
