[Bug] Opening Search App Immediately: Wrong Application is Opened

Ever since my Phone (2) got updated to Nothing 2.5.1, I noticed an annoying bug when searching an application. When the searched application appears on the filter and I immediately click to launch to it. The wrong application launches instead. I’d have to wait for a second and click the searched application for that application to open. I also tried rebooting/shutting down my device and the issue still exists.

Steps to Reproduce:

On the homescreen, swipe up to transition to the app drawer.
Type the desired application on the search bar.
Once the filter is immediately show your searched application, click that app.
You will notice that a different application is opened.

Recently got updated to Nothing OS 2.5.1.A (Build Number: Pong-U2.5-231228-1342), and the issue still exists. I’ve tried to report it to Discord before but no one seems to acknowledge my comment. I also tried to report it via the Log Tool but it’s very inconsistent and needs be polished, so I wasn’t sure if it actually uploaded my report.

Septone I followed the steps you in your post with 5 apps, all of them opened correctly.

On watching your video I saw that your apps are in monochrome while mine are in their usual color.

Perhaps you could try switching to the default color & try?

Septone ivideo checkchecked thethe video, it seems the search is taking a second to actually register, so when you quickly try to click the app, the previous app icon that was in the position where the search result are showing, that app is getting opened.

Its like your fingers are moving faster than the app search completes. I know you aren’t The Flash, I guess some lag is there, since this is one seldom report, it will take time to get worked upon. In any case do a software re install from service centre and try, but you will lose all the data so back it up maybe first.

Gun_Put Did you try opening the app immediately as soon the searched app appeared? If so, that’s odd. I guess I only have this problem on my Phone (2). 😔

Anyways, I tried changing my app icons (from Settings > Customization > Home Screen > Icon Pack) to “Default” from “Nothing”, and it still doesn’t work. Clicking immediately on the searched app always opens the original app that was also placed on the searched app’s icon grid.

NaufalKhan Really? So, I guess I’m not the only one facing this issue then.

GOD Yeah, it seems that’s the case. There seems to be a lag to actually register the searched app when opening it. For the software re-install, is that different to “Erase all data (factory reset)”? If it is different, I don’t think I can do that as there is no official Nothing service center here in the country that I live.

Did any error happen to you? What settings appear when you search for an application? It happens to me with several applications, not just that one.

I am also facing this issue on my Nothing phone 2, since the latest update Nothing 2.5.1.

Reproduction:
While using the app drawer search, if I type an app name and tap on the result almost instantly, the first app on the list opens instead of the app I searched for. This happens even though the search result appears correctly.

This issue seems to occur only when I tap on the search result very quickly. If I wait a second or two before tapping, the correct app opens.

This happens with all apps, not just a specific one.

Please fix this bug, its very annoying.

I have the option turned on to always show the keyboard if I open the app drawer. If I now search for a app and click on it really fast it shows the App but instead opens the first app in my app drawer (The upper Left). It is so annoying to always have to wait 2-3 seconds before I can open the app. Is anybody else facing this issue? I already have made a bug report a while ago but nothing changed (Nothing OS 2.5.0 Beta2)

Have the same problem (nothing phone 2) and I’m using the monochrome icon pack by nothing if that matters. The issue’s been there since the latest update

Facing same issue since a week. It’s very annoying. Have to wait 1-2 sec everytime I search for any app. There was no issue before the update.
