Noise-cancellation technology has become more mature and complex as audio products have progressed. Originally restricted to full-size over-ear headphones, the past few years has seen the technology implemented increasingly in smaller products and earbuds. Active noise cancellation (ANC) works by producing a mirror image soundwave to counteract external noise. Onboard microphones pick up ambient sound and low-frequency noise, and the device produces a sound through the speakers that phase-inverts the soundwaves of the unwanted noise, resulting in the two sounds cancelling one another out.
The practical uses of such a feature go far beyond simply making a music-listening experience more enjoyable, of course. That’s where you come in! We want to know how you are all currently using ANC products. What are your experiences of ANC features? What do you like and dislike about current ANC implementations? Are there any scenarios that aren’t catered for that you’d like to see come to life?
Thanks a lot!
