As an avid BlackBerry user (or rather former Blackberry user) I have been interested in this product for some time now. I am aware that Michael Fisher (“Mr. Mobile” on YouTube) is one of the heads behind the Clicks and he also has been a fan of physical keyboards on phones for years.
I have two major issues with the Clicks:
- It’s for iPhone, I have never used an iPhone and am honestly not interested in getting one.
- Being German I would much more prefer a decent QWERTZ layout, which is always a hit and miss with our Umlaute on keyboards with rather limited space.
I don’t even care too much about the added size, inconvenient for sure, but not a total dealbreaker either.
I was surprised reading about the Clicks and Phone (1), I never expected that. Would I buy something similar directly from Nothing? Yes, absolutely. But I am pretty sure it will again fail at the QWERTZ layout side of things.
Edit: I still have most of my Blackberrys in the drawer, that includes my two Android BBRY devices, KeyOne and Key2. To be honest I would still use the latter phone even today, light, compact, decent enough build quality, great keyboard. Unfortunately Android 8 broke something with the BlackBerry keyboard integration and it became rather laggy and slow, even unreliable. I even had my Key2 exvhanged for a new device as I thought it was broken, but the new one also was slow. When my perfectly fine working KeyOne got the Android 8 update, it started acting up right away like the successor. That was my personal nail in the BBRY coffin, a physical keyboard needs to be fast and reliable, otherwise I can just stick with virtual keys on a glas surface.
