Phone (2) Video - Choppy on Other Devices

I recorded some footage on my Phone 2 in 1080p 60fps H.264, HDR Disabled. The footage is smooth on the phone itself but anywhere else including my Desktop PC in both VLC and Premiere and on a different phone is choppy. I’ve tried transferring the file in multiple ways. That tells me it’s not the other devices but rather something is going on where the phone renders it fine but no other device is able to read it properly. Is there something I need to do to the footage in the phone to make it work with my other devices?

I’ve done some experimentation and found that it mostly occurs after about 10 minutes of recording or around a GB of file size. Does not happen with any other phone I own. So it has to be a problem with this phone.

The thing is that the phone 2 does not record at 60fps, it records the videos in the NTSC standard framerate, which varies a little. You need to to speed up the video a little to get the exact 60fps.

Speed up the video using this formula:

You can find the actual framerate of the video using vlc. This will fix the video stutter without speeding it up too much.

Speeding up the footage doesn’t fix it, just makes the footage faster. I can verify this as the audio is fine. It’s as if it’s randomly leaving out or randomly extending frames giving it the choppy look. As though it’s constantly buffering.

I tried it with 30fps too and the same thing happens.

Noticed the same… adding up to the overall bad camera performance…

Umbra_3dO9tmA1li yeah because it is using the NTSC standard which is very slightly faster/slower in fps depending on your region. Every phone camera that I know of does this (samsung, apple, etc…) but they also provide an option for full fat 60 fps. Maybe it will be fixed in OS 3, hopefully.

Ohhh so that’s probably because this phone originates in EU, whereas I’m in the US. I’m still not sure how to fix it as it’s just missing frames. And really it seems like quite a few frames missing, not just every other one.

So I’m wondering if there’s a way to export it to a different format. Or perhaps convert it once it’s been transferred. Since doubling the speed doesn’t fix it.

I am still getting it.

I am importing video in Adobe Premiere Pro, but video is chopy and it’s not Adobe issue, it’s the issue with Phone 2.

Tried same with Samsung S21FE and everything is fine on that.

Hey guys, I couldn’t find a way to fix it but there’s an alternate solution for this which I experimented with.

Import your recorded videos into “inshot” video editor application.
Export the video
Now copy the video to your PC and open it with Adobe premiere Pro or vlc

The video isn’t choppy after that.

This worked for me. Hope it works for you guys too.

This problem is absurd. Videos that look awesome on the phone are choppy and unusable on anyother device. They look really bad and some of the frames are missing. You kinda sort it out by screen recording them but its very frustrating

No way to export a proper video
