I have the same issue on my 2a running OS 2.5.5 on my Volkswagen T-Roc.
Android Auto apps (e.g. Maps) is working with audio transmitting over the cars speakers.

But when I make phone calls, I can hear the other person through the car speakers, but they cannot hear me through the car’s microphone.

I’ve tested with an iPhone via CarPlay and phone calls are working fine.

Why is Ethan Walker answer marked as “Best Answer” when the OP talks about a non-responsive AA experience and support have confirmed that the software update will only fix the phone call issue (which is out now btw ~ https://nothing.community/d/9497-nothing-os-255a-rolling-out-for-phone-2a ~ “Resolved an issue where the other party could not hear the caller when connecting to Android Auto.”)? 🤔

In my opinion there should be two separate threads about Android Auto issues on the (2a) to avoid confusion:
1. Non-responsive Android Auto Experience (which we still don’t know when or if it will be fixed)
2. Call issues

Hello there. I got my Phone 2a like a month ago. Everything works perfectly but yesterday I tried to connect it with my car using android auto (carkit dongle). Every smartphone works perfectly but not my phone 2a, I don´t know if you are also having this problem with your phones but it is quite frustrating. The thing is that I conect it by USB and the car does not recognize it. Every phone in my family works but not mine (Iphone 15, Iphone 14, Xiaomi, android phone from WW2…). Does anyone one know how to fix it?

Guys, 2.5.5.a has a fix for Android Auto. Update your phones and test it out 🤞

ReddyAnna I regret to comment that my 2a phone already has 2.5.5 OS version, it won’t work either… Hopefully a 2.5.6 version can solve the issue…

Thanks for the update. Has anybody received the 2.5.5.a update yet? Has it solved the screen freezing on android auto. My phone is due to be returned tomorrow and I’ve already reset it back to factory settid. Would be interested to know if this updates fixes the issue. Thanks.

richard248 not avaiable yet on my device, but regardless it’s not meant to address the screen freezing issue only the calls issue as per what support has already advised me/us and the release notes: “Resolved an issue where the other party could not hear the caller when connecting to Android Auto.”.

I have updated to 2.5.5.a, still no resolution to Android auto. Same blank screen on my Suzuki Ciaz 2017 car display with usb cable. Seems like nothing os team , not focussing on its solution at all.😭

SanjayKumar_l6Iu5lEYrH test call quality. The fix claims other caller will now be able to hear you much better.

SanjayKumar_l6Iu5lEYrH well that issue wasn’t going to get addressed in this updated anyways, on the calls issue was getting fixed. Only wishful thinking that it would get fixed with this update. 😔

This is the latest from Nothing Support on the blank screen, un-responsiveness issue..

“Regarding the issue of unresponsive touchscreen after connection, our technical team is currently analyzing the situation, and it appears to be related to a problem with Google. At this time, we do not have a confirmed resolution timeframe, but please be assured that we are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as soon as they become available.”

ReddyAnna but he’s not that having that issue? You can’t really make calls if your Android Auto is un-responsive. 😆

I doubt its a Google issue tbh. My Pixel 7a with Stock Android is running AA without any problem in my car. Only the Nothing Phone 2a causing me trouble.

hugtherug I said this to Nothing Support also that both my Pixel & Samsung devices work fine.

Maybe they need to work with Google on how they’ve integrated Android Auto with Phone (2a) as they don’t know how to resolve the unresponsiveness issue and Google own the Android Auto platform. 🤔🤷🏼‍♂️

Thks for the replies re the latest update. I’ve returned mine today as it was the last day I was eligible to return it. It’s been nearly a month and the replies I’ve had from nothing customer service didn’t really show any confidence as to if and when it will be fixed. I got the impression that they are playing for time. At least their responses to my emails were very quick but too vague.
