I’ll be sharing the issues I’ve encountered with my Nothing Phone 2 (Running Latest Nothing OS 2.6), which I hope will be addressed in the upcoming Nothing OS 3 / Android 15 update. I encourage community members and followers to share their own problems and suggestions as well. Here are the issues I’ve faced:
1. Animation Lag: There are noticeable lags when switching between apps quickly, and sometimes even during normal use. The camera app, in particular and also other apps, exhibits poor animation performance. This lag diminishes the experience of using a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 phone, so I hope this is addressed in the next major update.
2. Mini Pop View Delay: There’s a slight delay when opening and minimizing the mini pop view across various apps like Google Maps, YouTube, music players, and WhatsApp.
3. Glyph Light Behavior: When adjusting the volume via Bluetooth earbuds, the Glyph lights behave erratically, even though the volume changes correctly. This needs fixing.
4. Wallpaper Selection: The current wallpapers for Nothing Phones could be more appealing. Adding more attractive wallpapers would enhance the user experience.
5. HDR Video Playback: HDR video playback shows strange flickering for a second when pulling down or up the notification panel. There’s also potential lag when playing videos in 2160p or 1440p on YouTube, although I’m unsure if the lag is real.
6. Glyph Light Pattern: The Glyph light patterns for ringtones work correctly in settings, but the lights behave randomly when receiving calls and this issue is present since the day, I unboxed my phone 2. This issue also affects apps like Skype, Google Meet, and WhatsApp. It seems to be a persistent software problem that needs urgent attention.
7. Torch Brightness Control: Adding a feature to control the brightness level of the torch, similar to what’s available on Samsung and iPhone devices, would be beneficial.
8. Camera Improvements: Significant improvements are needed in camera performance and photo processing. Features such as processing photos after capturing them while recording videos, enhancing app fluidity and animations, and reducing shutter lag (beyond the current burst mode) should be prioritized.
9. WhatsApp Performance: Whenever I need to send a photo to someone and rotate it to the correct orientation, it takes a few seconds (about 3 seconds) for the edit to apply after I press “Done.” I’ve tried clearing the cache, restarting my phone, and reinstalling WhatsApp, but the issue still persists, please look into this matter since it’s not a heavy task at all.
I will update this reply as I recall more issues. I hope NOTHING takes these suggestions into account to improve our overall experience furthermore I would appreciate the moderators’ assistance with these issues and their efforts to bring them to the attention of the higher team responsible for the software.
