Recently I bought a nothing phone 2. However, I have been seeing some decisions in the device where I am either unsure about the functionality or the effectiveness of the functionality. Concerning the glyph adaptive brightness this is about how the brightness is determined. This is not indicated to the user in any way to my knowledge. The problem I am seeing is that the use case for the glyph is when you have your device flipped over the screen down on a surface. When I have adaptive glyph brightness on it seems like it is dimmed down like it’s dark. I think this could be because the sensor gets covered since it’s on the screen side. Or that the function is just not working correctly. In either case, I think it’s weird that the user has no idea where the essential sensors are. It’s very contradictory to the transparent design of the device. It feels like the concept and shape are disconnected from its software in this way. I love the software and design of the interface, but it could be an improvement point in my opinion.
