Nothing Phone (2) is without alternative?

Hey guys,

last week a good friend asked me why I bought my NP2 and no other phone and my answer was that there is no real alternative out there, e.g.:

-Pixel 8: No qualcomm chip, no fast charging, strange arrangement of buttons

-Galaxy S23/24: No qualcomm chip, AI features will probably be chargeable in the future, no fast charging, very expensive, user interface not very close to stock android/ too colourful, need of Samsung account to use all features

-Xiaomi 13/14: expensive, a lot of bloatware, too colourful ui, need of a mi account, no good update policy

Now my question to you:

Do you all know a real alternative forNP2 with these specs:

-good update policy

-snapdragon chipset

-solid camera performance

-well built

-ui close to stock android

-no bloatware

-no additional accounts required

Til (21) One of the best things I like about Nothing is the colour accuracy of the panels on their phones and Improved Stock Android experience. All Nothing Phones have a Delta E < 2. They put extra care into color accuracy on the screen on SRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces. I use Nothing Phone 2 as an extended display(SuperDisplay App) from my windows system for color grading purposes in Davinci. Couldn’t be more happier than this. Excellent screen.

Now here’s the fun part. Imagine spending 1.2 lakhs/ 1000$ on S23 ultra, S24 Ultra and having Delta E of more than 3. What a joke of a screen calibration from Samsung. I feel sorry for people who bought that phone.

All Nothing Phones are on a league of its own. Especially Phone 2 Delta E of 1, Gamma 2.2 is spot on.

I think Nothing phone 2a has the display as the phone 2 minus the 1hz ltpo. Even the phone 2a screen beats S24 Ultra when it comes to colour accuracy.😂😂

It is laughable that how much Samsung really cares about colour accuracy. Same story as their TV Color Accuracy too 😂.

NOT MANY PEOPLE APPRECIATE THE EFFORTS THAT HAS BEEN PUT INTO THIS PHONE!!!!

Til (21) Solid Camera Performance 🤔

I doubt that. I’ll agree to disagree for that part for other scenarios it might be the perfect one. But when compared with price I’m little bit disappointed. Coz it cost me 55k & now it’s available at 39k which is a sharp fall within a year. For new buyers it’s a damn good deal. But what about those who got it at higher price. For them the value of their device has depreciated at rocket speed.

So even though I’m a nothing user, I still don’t like this scenario at all.

At a glance: Asus, Sony and Motorola

Til (21) Sony Xperia lineup would be the closest to what your looking for. Strong camera, Snapdragon chipset, great build quality, stock UI with no bloatware, no dumb additional account needed, a lot of price options depending on your budget. The only downside that I found was the update policy isn’t the best. 2 years of android updates, that’s all you get. But for the rest, they’re amazing phones !

[deleted] with Nothing I received every update in time +/- two weeks. So until now everything is fine for me. I guess the next update will be there on Easter (Monday) like the Android 14 update came on Christmas (Monday) too😄

I switched from a flagship Xiaomi (11) I agree with you the only disadvantage for me that you can’t buy service parts for Nothing products. For me as a technician it’s a big problem. How could I advise Nothing Phones to anyone? I’m happy with mine but this is a big downside for this brand.

Til (21) Indeed ! They build very reliable phone (as every product they actually manufacture 😂). I was considering an Xperia 5 V or 1 V when I purchased my Nothing Phone (2) last week. But encouraging a new company, that has amazing software and great pricing was more inline with what I was looking for in the end.
