Thoughts on Keeping Nothing OS Clean

Hello everyone,

there are a lot of requests from Nothing about system apps, here and at X.

Gallery, File Manager, Notepad etc etc. And this requests are turning Nothing to any other OS in the market.

All the requests you asked from the team is already in the market from other brands.

This is Nothing and Nothing OS. You can download Google Gallery which is really enough for the device. Notes? already in google play store. File Manager? already in the google play store. All the applications you are asking to be available in the OS will bring heavy load so and this OS will turn to one of the other in the market.

I Like Nothing OS a lot. Sometimes i am think if there is a SW comes with Google Play Store only and i download everything by myself including dialer contacts camera app etc.

As a long term Nothing user since NP1, my message to management, please keep Nothing OS Clean and teach users to download applications from application stores.

This is my opinion and i wanted to share with community. I know there are a lot of users thinking same like me.

Yes agree, please keep it clean and choose your own apps. There are a lot.

I agree with you very much. Tho Google gallery for example is installed by default when you boot up the phone for the first time.
When we talk about system apps, it is mostly apps that are needed no matter what.
For example, a note taking app is not absolutely needed and a bunch of third party app can be installed as you like.

But a dialer, a file manager or a gallery is an app that is needed if people want to use their phone correctly. So it’s either you rely on Google app (aka default android apps that are well integrated by default), or you make your own system apps that blend better into the OS. I think that’s why people are asking for such apps, Most people wouldn’t mind (like you and me), but the Nothing community is mostly made of enthusiast tech people, so they want something that differentiate their phone from another -> having dedicated apps. I guess that make sense also.

Is it worth spending resources or not into developing those apps ? I guess some apps yes, as Carl announced the Gallery app on Twitter. But for sure we will not see a whole ecosystem of apps like Samsung soon.
