🔗 Instagram First Impression: First Impression Phone 4b

Introduction

Every year we see so many new smartphone launches and honestly most of them start feeling the same after a while

But Nothing has always tried to do things a little differently especially when it comes to design and the overall experience

Phone (4b) follows the same philosophy

I’ve been using it for the past few days as my daily device for photography content creation and everyday use and here’s what I honestly think about it

Design That Feels Like Nothing

The first thing that grabs your attention is definitely the design

Even from a distance you can instantly tell it’s a Nothing phone

The transparent elements the clean finish and the new Glyph Bar give it a unique identity without trying too hard

Even though it’s made of polycarbonate it never feels cheap in the hand

It’s lightweight comfortable to hold and fingerprints are surprisingly well controlled

Display

The 6.77-inch AMOLED display looks vibrant and sharp

The 120Hz refresh rate makes everything feel smooth whether you’re scrolling through social media switching between apps or simply navigating the UI

Even outdoors the display stayed bright enough and colours looked natural

Glyph Bar

At first I thought the Glyph Bar would just be another cool lighting feature

But after using it for a few days my opinion completely changed

Getting notifications checking charging progress camera countdowns and Live Activities without constantly looking at the screen actually becomes useful in day-to-day life

It feels different but in a practical way

Performance

I’m not someone who spends hours gaming on a phone

My daily workflow mostly includes photography social media editing and multitasking

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 handled everything smoothly and apps opened quickly without any noticeable lag

Nothing OS 4.1 continues to be one of my favourite Android experiences

It’s clean fast and refreshingly free from unnecessary apps

Camera

As a photographer the camera is always the first thing I care about

The 50MP main camera captured detailed images with natural colours and the OIS helped keep videos stable while shooting handheld

The ultra-wide camera also came in handy while shooting landscapes and wider scenes

Honestly I don’t want to say too much about the camera

I’d rather let these samples speak for themselves

Battery

The 6000mAh battery is one of the biggest upgrades on Phone (4b)

With my regular workflow it easily lasted through the day without making me worry about charging

If you’re someone who travels a lot or creates content on the go you’ll definitely appreciate the extra battery life

Essential AI

Features like Essential Voice and Essential Search don’t try to impress you with flashy AI tricks

Instead they quietly make everyday tasks faster and easier

And that’s exactly what I like about Nothing’s approach

Technology that feels useful instead of complicated

What I Liked

What Could Be Better

No smartphone is perfect and Phone (4b) is no exception

I’d love to see even more Glyph customisation options in future updates

The camera software also has room for small refinements which I’m sure Nothing can improve over time

Final Thoughts

Phone (4b) doesn’t feel like a phone that’s trying to win with specifications alone

Instead it focuses on delivering a balanced experience where design software battery and camera work well together

If you’re looking for a smartphone with a unique identity clean software reliable cameras and excellent battery life

Phone (4b) is definitely worth checking out

And for me

Nothing Phone (4b) once again proves that a smartphone doesn’t have to be the most powerful to leave a lasting impression.
