So I am reading in the forums here about the Nothing Phone 3…

Admittedly, I have been disappointed over Nothing not have carrier support in the US. Now, recently, Carl did say in a Bloomberg interview that they were primarily in the European and India markets - something I did not understand from the beginning. But here is what I am seeing and finally understanding about Nothing, the pros and the cons, and the final decision I made…

I see a lot of haters - great that you have your opinion, but you are not looking at Nothing objectively. Originally I left iPhone because I have a diabetic CGM that would not stay connected due to Apple’s, well, “problems” (of which there are many right now). Being an employee with “big red” here in the US, I was miffed that I could not get my number on my network, and had to go elsewhere - being T-Mobile or one of it’s MVNO’s like GoogleFi. I loved the 3(a), Nothing OS, the look, the feel, the minimalism, the functionality, the mindfulness, the attention to every little detail, and of course, the glyphs and the overall design blew people out of the water. Let’s not forget about the price; I realized with Nothing that I didn’t have to pay $1000+ USD to get a zippy and well-performing phone to do exactly what I needed it to do. So, after having the taste of that cool and good life using Nothing, it upset me that I had to take a Pixel on my network.
Nothing Phone 3 rolls around, and to say that the Nothing community is very polarized right now over their design and hardware choices is an understatement. Nothing is a very young company. Nothing OS has grown and become better by leaps and bounds since its first iteration. It is still polished, bloat-free, looks great, feels great, runs amazingly well on it’s hardware, minimalist, etc. (I could go on and on about the benefits). You still get that on Nothing Phone 3. If you don’t like the glyph matrix, and the camera arrangement, or the overall aesthetics, they still have the Nothing Phone 3(a) and Nothing Phone 3(a) Pro - both amazing phones!
Everyone’s use-case is unique. The definition of “flagship” is also a flexible term. Just because the Nothing Phone 3 is not running the specs of an iPhone or god forbid a Samsung phone, doesn’t mean it is not a “flagship”. We are lost on the term because Apple and Samsung have coined this term to all of their new products that they pump out annually with the latest and greatest. They tout gimmicks like “camera control”, “moonshot”, AI, and lost of other garbage that most people don’t even want in their phones. It is the marriage of the tech, as well as the experience that achieve the term of “flagship”. Nothing feels that this “marriage” of tech and experience is their “flagship”, and who is to say they are wrong? Only time will tell, and they will listen to community feedback as they always have. Having said that, of the 8 billion people in the world today, does anyone know the actually percentage of how many users with a mobile device ACTUALLY use or need the top-end features on a mobile device? 2% AT BEST. The other 98% use the mobile device for calls, texting, photos, social media, banking, shopping, and light gaming. Don’t get me going about cameras - the human eye can only see so much “quality” in a photograph, so unless you are REALLY looking, 99% of people in the world wouldn’t even notice the difference between a photo on a mid-range versus a “flagship”.
Lastly, cost… Whether or not Nothing Phone 3 is priced higher than you expected, or wish it was lower based on what big-tech companies call “flagship” is irrelevant. This is what Nothing chose for their prices for Nothing Phone 3, so buy it or don’t buy it. BUT, consider this - If we look at the BASE model pricing of an ecosystem (we’ll use phone, earbuds, and watch); Apple - 799 USD for an iPhone 16, 399 USD for an Apple Watch, and AirPods for 129 USD - totaling 1327 USD before taxes / tariffs / customs / etc.. Samsung - 779 USD for a Galaxy 25 Phone, 209 USD for a Galaxy Watch 7, and 149 USD for Galaxy Buds - totaling 1137 USD before taxes / tariffs / customs / etc.. Google - 799 USD for the Pixel 9 phone, 349 USD for the Pixel Watch 3, and 99 USD for the Pixel Buds A-series - totaling 1247 USD before taxes / tariffs / customs / etc.. Now let’s look at Nothing. 379 USD for the Nothing Phone 3(a), 69 USD for the CMF Watch Pro 2, and 69 USD for CMF Buds Pro 2 - totaling a shocking 517 USD before taxes / tariffs / customs / etc..

If you look at the bang for your buck for everyday use-case for a mobile ecosystem, Nothing wins hands down without cutting any corners - and in many cases function, look, and sound MUCH better than any of the big tech companies!

End result for me? GoogleFi with a new phone number, Nothing Phone 3(a) Pro, CMF Buds Pro 2, and CMF Watch Pro 2. Near perfect ecosystem that does much more than I ever wanted from my devices - and the price is unbeatable.

Don’t hate just because you don’t like the design - love because regardless as to whether or not you think the latest Nothing Phone 3 is great or ugly, there are other devices to choose from, it is STILL Nothing OS, it is still a great ecosystem, and Nothing is STILL the best value for your dollar, hands down.
