  • Community Board Observer Update Q1 2024: After Meeting Report

Hey Community,

It’s wonderful to reconnect with you all. Although I couldn’t participate in the last community update video due to the timing of the most recent board meeting, I’m eager to share the updates from that meeting now. But first, let’s reflect on my first three months as your Community Board Observer.

The early weeks were challenging, but the warmth and positive reception from all of you made it easier to find my footing. Meeting many of you in-person during the Phone (2a) launch in India and at the #the100drops events was an unforgettable experience.

I greatly appreciate the candid feedback provided by community members, both online and in person. Your enthusiasm and engagement inspire me to work harder each day.

In my first board meeting, which happened back in January, I presented several initiatives, some of which have already been implemented, while others are in progress. Any outstanding topics will be addressed in future meetings. Here’s what was discussed in my second board meeting at Nothing.

The positive response to the Community Edition Project, along with the ongoing AI integration within Nothing, stood out. Additionally, the sense of community on nothing.community continues to thrive, and continuous improvements are being made. I also highlighted the community’s request for dedicated apps, such as a gallery and a community app, and I’m pleased to share that the team is actively working in this direction. The dot program was addressed, and the team will provide an update soon. I also spoke about Generation Nothing and the community’s request to bring back such programs.

Support and service were significant topics of discussion. While the launch of exclusive service centres in India was a positive step, issues with third-party centres persist, and I’ve escalated some cases that came directly to me. Additionally, I highlighted the delay in Phone (2) updates after January, noting the need for better communication around such delays.

On the CMF by Nothing front, I addressed the issues with the CMF Watch Pro and the community’s response to the recent CMF product launches. There’s a clear call for better consistency and differentiation in CMF’s product offerings, and the need to establish a strong identity separate from Nothing is evident. The community is also vocal about the need for a clearer vision for CMF that goes beyond just the price-to-performance comparison.

Additionally, I addressed topics including some community members’ desire for compact phones, as well as concerns from Indian customers regarding Flipkart’s open-box delivery service, which has raised worries about product safety and overall satisfaction.

Despite the outstanding issues that need to be resolved, I’m optimistic about the many positives. Finding solutions that benefit everyone remains a priority, and your feedback is invaluable in this process. Please keep it coming.

The Community Edition Project is progressing well, and it’s great to see the impressive entries for stage one. Congratulations to the winners and runners-up, and well done to all participants. The creativity and passion displayed have set a high bar, and I’m looking forward to what’s next. I’m pleased to share that the wallpaper stage is now open, with submissions welcome until May 15th. This is yet another opportunity for our community to showcase their talent and creativity.

Before I finish, I want to express my gratitude for the honour of serving as your Community Board Observer. Working with this community is a dream come true, and I’m excited about the future. Together, we can achieve amazing things.

That’s all from me. Please share any comments you have for the board or leadership below, and I’ll see you in the chat soon.

Great update Rohit, thanks for providing such a detailed write up and taking the time to record a video for everyone. Enjoying the positive things that are cooking in the background, and I’m looking forward to hearing updates on the topics you mentioned 👏

Awesome update! Thank you for being so transparent and keeping us all involved!

RohitPakalapati differentiation in CMF’s product offerings

This point really excites me, with the launch of CMF, it feels like this could be a space for a different set/style of Products from Nothing and I’m intrigued to see what could come from here!

        Thanks for the update Rohit!

Loved the way you put the CMF’s emotional connection as a user compared to Nothing’s as a pointer, that’s something that truly goes unnoticed. Great stuff!

Dylan_B Thank you, Dylan. It means a lot. Exactly, CMF has a lot of potential, and I can’t wait to see it stand strong.

Another wonderful write up, Rohit. Thank you!

Thank you for touching upon the points of software updates and the communication around this.

Looking forward to what the next quarter shall bring! 👀

Thanks for the update @RohitPakalapati 😃

It appears that there’s gradual improvement as expected, with the team actively addressing issues. It’s good to hear that they’ve acknowledged the recent delays in update rollouts and are committed to improving communication for any potential delays in the future. Additionally, expanding Nothing’s exclusive service centers across India (including tier 1-3 cities) would undoubtedly enhance the after-sales experience by eliminating reliance on third party tie-ups and the unsatisfactory service being provided as a result.

Keep up the good work as the CBO 👏

            We appreciate your work. 🙏

I hope they will improve camera sensors in future, many users including me are not satisfied with camera’s inconsistent performance. 🫠

RohitPakalapati Flipkart’s open-box delivery service, which has raised worries about product safety and overall satisfaction.

Thanks for raising this issue. I hope nothing changes its partner to Amazon. Flipkart’s Open box delivery also ruins the overall unboxing experience and sometimes the packaging and in worst cases product itself gets damaged

MridulNegi You can still buy from other partners like Croma, which does not have open box delivery, or from Vijay Sales. I bought my NP2 from Croma

so what is the reason behind phone 2 updates have been delayed since January then? Trying to push for phone 3 or because of no Bruno?

A very insightful update @RohitPakalapati . I am very happy to know that Generation Nothing is included in the plan. Looking forward to relive those memories again with Nothing and the team.
