I’ve been scouring the Internet for someone to bring this up and I wonder if this is an issue only affecting me? I really don’t understand the volume slider behaviour.

When I adjust the volume via physical key, the touch sliders will appear on screen. If I then use the touch sliders to adjust the volume, the “dot” will then enlarge assuming for better visibility beneath my finger.

Now, my issue is this: When I release the dot after making a volume adjustment, the level would drop maybe 2-3 “dots” below where I initially adjusted the volume to.

For example, when the dot enlarges beneath my finger, I count there are 11 tiny grey dots I could raise the volume up to. So if I then slide the volume up 5 dots leaving 6 dots before max, upon release the slider would drop down by 2 dots leaving 8 dots to max instead.

It does not however exhibit this behaviour if I slide the slider to max volume. It only seems to exhibit this behaviour when adjusting the volume between max and min.

Why would it do that?

Hello, I got Nothing Phone (2) this April and from when I got it I’ve been updating it regularly but all that time I’ve had problem with volume up and down at low and moderately low volume while using earbuds.

So basically, what is happening is when you click volume up from lowest volume to 5th level it is increasing with delay, when you go back it is decreasing twice for one level.

To try to explain it in more details:
0 represents first volume setting (no volume)
1 = one level increase from 0
2 = one level increase from 1; and so on…

When you want to increase volume from 0 to 6, this is how it goes:

0 = no sound (OK)

1 = no sound (maybe I just don’t hear it so not 100% sure)

2 = low sound, no delay, (OK)

3 = low sound from level 2, then delayed volume up

4 = low sound from level 3, then delayed volume up

5 = volume up, no delay at all (OK)

6 = volume up, no delay at all (OK)

When you want to decrease volume from 6 to 0, this is how it goes:

6 = expected sound level (OK)

5 = lower volume, no delay (OK)

4 = lower volume, no delay (OK)

3 = lower volume, delay and one more volume point down (so basically lowering volume twice)

2 = lower volume, delay and one more volume point down (so basically lowering volume twice)

1 = lower volume, delay and one more volume point down (can’t hear any sound, but maybe it’s just my hearing) (so basically lowering volume twice)

0 = no sound (OK)

It was tested on NP2 NOS 2.6, and few OS versions before that.
Buds it was tested on are:

  • JBL Tune Flex Ghost edition
  • Nothing Ear (2024) (Latest patch)

Does anybody else experience the same issue? Can you look into it Nothing team? 😄
