Mirko_ddd No worries man! I am actually a senior UI/UX designer by profession so I thought I would chime in this project that you are building.

You have done an exceptional job yourself. I just had some ideas that would make this app match more in line aesthetically with the existing Nothing apps (Weather, Nothing X). Along with some UX tweaks that would benefit the end user.

I am excited to try your build when it launches.

P.S. - If I could make a suggestion right away. You might wanna look into this section. @Mirko_ddd

Here you have given a well defined square box for the Submission gallery and a proper circle for the updates. But just below that the “Vote Now Stage 3” plus Image on the right side, they give an initial impression of two separate interact-able items. I would suggest give padding to the elements and creating a proper rectangle with borders just like how you did for the square box above. This will communicate more prominently to the end user that this a one proper element.

@Mirko_ddd Looking on the pictures and now I really want to have it! I thought, that I will try to clean dust from Tapatalk and try access Nothing community by it, but your app looks way better. I´ve looked into the Play stroe, but it looks, that approval proces is still going (or?). So, you know what I will ask for, right now :-) Do search for “beta” testers? :-) Or do you have a GitHub thread?

Ghouless hello, the app Is not meant to be a forum app, has only news from forum, most recent firmware updates and browse the phone (2a) community edition submissions gallery.

The app is still on review on Google Play, but I am thinking to open an internal testing track, so if you’re interested you can DM your email (the one you use in Google Play, so I can invite you to test the app).

Mirko_ddd yup, if you can include also links related to Phone (2) into the app, it will be welcomed from my (I think not only) side. I will write you a DM.

Comparing the official widget for community headlines with one that comes with the app.

          Thoughts?

Ghouless maybe there’s a misunderstanding, the gallery of phone (2a) community edition is the series of submissions that users have posted to participate in the 4 stages of making the “phone 2a community edition”.

Updated first post with download to Google Play.

You should open the app to all Android devices, not just Nothing Phone users. Nothing Community is not only followed by Nothing device owners.

Mirko_ddd IMHO I feel like the official one suits more since it blends better with the other widgets, maybe you could do a hybrid of the two. That said the app looks awesome, great work👀

Fr4nKB it’s not possible to make the same widget as the official one (if I want to make it scrollable), and you should know it 😜.

The most similar layout I can use for a widget was StackView, instead the one is using the official app is a custom layout (not a real widget), I suppose it is a vertical recyclerView with a pager behaviour.

Hi 👋, in my opinion, this is one of the best-designed third-party applications based on Nothing UI. Firmwares section totally rocks! The only thing I’m still unsure about is the widget. On one hand, I find the stack really cool, but on the other hand, it somehow doesn’t fit with the added depth among the other elements on my homepage. This is just honest feedback. Great job, I really appreciate your work. 🙌

hellomalek thanks for the feedback 😎

Yep, widget is the most difficult part, because a real widget supports only a few of layouts, and the one that offers a similar scroll behaviour of the original was this. But don’t worry, if there’s a better way to do it for sure I will do.

Mirko_ddd I’m sorry I’ve not tried the official widget nor I’m informed on how it behaves, I was judging based on the looks.
Looking at hellomalek screeshot I have to say that it does look cool, maybe the photo to the phone deceived me, I take back what I said earlier😂

aarond203 thank you very much ❤️ just working on more widgets and a notification system and I’d say is ready. Glad you’re enjoying the demo!
