Nothing Phone 2(a) black screen and vibrates after attempted restart.

Hi Community,

My nothing phone 2(a) will not power back on after a restart. The phone is less than 8 weeks old.

Yesterday while on approx 25% battery the video function was freezing (it seemed to be freezing as it tried to focus in relatively poor light) so I restarted the Camera app but this didn’t work. I then thought a restart of the phone might resolve. I brought up the power options and selected restart. The phone then shut down and looks like it tried to restart but now it is a black screen and vibrates every approx 6sec as if starting.

I have tried long hold on the +vol button and the Nothing splash screen flashes up before going off and continuing to vibrate at 5sec pulses. This continues until the battery is sufficiently low that the red battery empty screen pop-ups when the power button is pressed.

I have contacted Nothing support and while they were very quick and responsive their 3 solutions (below) did not work out.

1. Confirm whether the button is stuck or liquid has entered.
2. Charge for more than 10 minutes, press and hold the power button for more than 12 seconds, and force it to turn on.
3. Keep the phone in the current state and do not do other operations, wait 30 minutes to see if it works.

Anyone have any ideas?

Fei246 I faced the same issue last night and I have tried all the troubleshooting steps but nothing works (no pun), I think it’s best to take it to the authorized service center or go for a replacement if possible.

I bought the phone like 2 weeks ago and I am facing the exact issue, any solution here yet?
The worst thing is I bought this phone in India and travelled to Canada and when I contacted the customer support number here, they said I must contact back in India as the phone was bought from there 🙁

I have tried to charge the phone for like 2 hours now, and the red battery empty screen appears back as soon as I unplug the charger, while the 5 second vibrate loop goes on once I plug it back in.

Anyone found a solution yet?

Just bought a new N2a. Had just finished setup , and soon after i clicked the power button to switch off the screen, the display doesnt turn back on. Its black. But as mentioned here it still vibrates with notificaiton and button responses
