Google assistant response speed

Hey team,

I often use Google assistance for lot of my daily routine tasks and research purposes. But, when using Google assistant on nothing phone 2a I think the response time is very slow. It could be mainly because of the microphone that nothing uses. It needs to be enhanced.

I have to call out Google assistant multiple times before it gets activated. Moreover, when Google assistant is finally done answering my query and I have to ask a follow up question I have to click on the microphone button because calling out hey Google or OK Google just doesn’t work.

Nothing phone as a mobile device does not disappoint And I know the team is constantly working on improving the OS. But focusing on improving the existing features and technology can really improve a user’s experience.

Is the problem the response time or that your voice command is not being recognised (or both), because they’re two separate things. The quality of the microphone would be a cause for the latter issue, but I expect the time it takes the phone (2a) to respond is a processing problem.

I’m not sure if you guys are aware about this but there has been a complete revamp going on when it comes to google assistant, where google gemini is taking over and replacing assistant by default, which is pushed through the software updates to the Google app.

I installed gemini app on my old phone and opted for gemini replacing google assistant and I noticed that it is just not like assistant anymore, it was more like a chatbot and not exactly assistant, as google is yet to fully integrate it into Android.

Try this - Change the default assistant back to Google Assistant in the Google App settings under Digital Assistants from Google.
