I love watching keynotes live and this one won’t be an exception. Even before we get to the products themselves, Apple always excels with their cinematography, so I cannot wait to just sit back and appreciate the presentation.

From the rumored devices, the one that I am really interested in checking is the Apple Watch Series 7. Allegedly, we’ll get a new form factor matching the boxy iPhone 12, and bigger screen sizes and battery capacities. From the renderings, it looks beautiful.

I never owned an Apple Watch, but I am always in awe with the new models. Android has some interesting offerings, like the Galaxy Watch 4 and the TicWatch Pro series, but Apple continues to be in a league of its own. Hopefully, Google will finally release a competitive Pixel Watch during their Pixel 6 event.

About the new iPhones, it seems this year we’ll get a “tock” model in the “tick-tock” cycle. The alleged ProMotion sounds interesting, especially after checking it on the iPad Pro, but it shouldn’t be a huge leap forward.

The AirPods 3 are not necessarily what I would buy. I am more interested in the AirPods Pro 2 that are suppose to arrive next year. On paper, the original Pro model is still a good offering, so I hope that Apple makes something enticing with the sequel.

All in all, September is going to be a busy month and I love it. It’s been a long time since I was a fully-invested Apple customer, but I continue to follow the brand and I recognize that there’s something special about using their products.

[deleted] I am sure people are just waiting for the new products to be announced later today. You set up an awesome stage for a good conversation.

Two last minute rumors mentioned that with the next iPhones, Apple will offer the option to have 1TB of storage with the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Not only that, but allegedly, the entry option will be 128GB on all the models.

And just this morning, it’s on the news that later today, Apple may announce the ninth-generation ‌iPad‌ during or after the main event. Perhaps we’ll have a refresh outside the main keynote, like we had in the past.

[deleted] Indeed, I watched the event live. Two big surprises: the new iPad mini and the Apple Watch Series 7.

The first because I don’t think anyone predicted such a drastic update. My first iPad was a mini and this looks beautiful. It’s amazing that Apple managed to put an A15 Bionic (even if underclocked) in such a small form factor.

The second surprise is the opposite. The boxy redesign was “confirmed” by so many different sources that I think everyone was shocked by the more iterative design. It doesn’t look bad at all, but it is just a small update. Perhaps we’ll see the new design with the Apple Watch Series 8.

I’ve tried the iPad Pro with ProMotion and I want to check how it translates to the iPhone 13 Pro (and Max). My device has a refresh rate higher than 60Hz, so I know that it can make a difference. Question is: how much of a difference in that beautiful panel?

The only thing I think Apple should pay attention to is the fine print. For example, the “ProRes Mode” will only work in the iPhone with at least 256GB of storage. I understand that keynotes are scripted to make the products look good, but this is a major caveat that should be mentioned more prominently.

Let’s see what they do with their next event. The iPhone 13 Pro in Sierra Blue is looking dashing. Cannot wait to check the reviews, especially when it comes to its video capabilities.

[deleted] Many thanks for the tag, Bits.

I saw the news this afternoon and I am going to watch it live next Monday. With all the rumors about the new MacBook Pro, it should be an interesting one.

I am not in the market for a new laptop at the moment, but I really want to see what the alleged M1X can do. The tagline “Unleashed” for the event can mean that Apple is really confident in their performance. And, of course, the new design.

The other day I got the opportunity to try the new iPhone 13 lineup and they feel incredible. I also tried the new iPad mini, but to me it is just too small.

But what about you? Are you getting ready to splurge on one of the newest MacBook? 🤓

[deleted]

Me. Yes. My old MacBook air died a couple weeks ago and I’ve been desperately waiting for these to be announced so I can go back to doing my work 😂.

It’s been a tough couple weeks gosh!

Late to the conversation, but more related to what was announced in this event!

Been using the iPhone 13 mini for the last couple weeks and oh man it’s a joyful experience! Coming from a massive 9 Pro. I’m so surprised how this little guy can out last my 9 Pro in battery life. This is my first iPhone so I really feel like a noob using Android all my life!

Social media apps are a breeze; iMessage is one of the only reasons I switched to an iPhone and that has been really fun to use too cuz now I don’t have a massive FOMO 😂

Cameras really impressed me, especially the optimizations on 3rd party apps which looks completely different on Android I feel.

Anyone here using the 13 series?

anunayC This is quite interesting. You went from a massive display to a tiny one, so I have to ask how are you adapting? I am not talking about the fancy features like the refresh rate, but just how the difference in sizes is making you adjust to content consumption?

My last iPhone was the iPhone 6, so it’s going to be exactly the same for me when/if I decide it’s time to check the “other side”. I do, however, use an iPad daily, and iPadOS has some interesting features.

One thing that impresses me is the widget implementation. It’s true Android got them years ago, but I think it’s a perfect case to demonstrate that elusive “Apple polishing”. To me, it took time, but they are just better on iOS.

For you iPhone-users in our community: Focus from the new iOS 15!

Have anyone of you tried the new feature “Focus”, which essentially is ‘Do-not-disturb on steriods’ (as the Youtuber DailyTrekk to described it 🤣 )?

I got it rigged yesterday and have now tested it out for 24 hours. My phone was a total mess before, but after setting this feature up with dedicated screens for specific focus situations (work, private, sleep, studies, etc or whatever focus situation you want to set up) I can now be a lot more relaxed and won’t be disturbed with notifications that don’t belong to a specific situation. For example, it is necessary for me to keep track of my to-do’s in my work-list in a widget (from Google Tasks) only between certain hours, while the private list can be disabled. I can then in that focus mode assign a specific home screen, let’s say screen #3 which contains only my work apps and widgets.

If Nothing decides to create smartphone, this feature is a MUST! 😁

I highly recommend this feature to all iOS users. I watched this YouTube video that capture most of the essentials about the new feature:

[deleted] Oh, that sounds really awful. How old was the poor thing?

2017 MacBook Air! Not that old but it just wasn’t powerful enough, looks like!

I hope you’ll be able to survive! Just a little longer haha!

Cheetosdust how the difference in sizes is making you adjust to content consumption?

I go back to the 9 Pro every time I want to either watch YouTube or any long form content. I find it straining only during long periods of time, but it’s a positive! I use my phone way lesser than I used to. Less distractions!

[deleted] Doesn’t the mini feel super tiny, especially after using the 9 Pro?

^ Adding on. I find it very easy to carru around! The 9 Pro now seems extremely massive compared to this tiny phone!

      [deleted]

It was actually a hand down so I didn’t use it much either, sucks that it crashed on me! 😅

Yup definitely the demand seems very high this time round!

I don’t think we will be, this is rumored to be the last mini phone by Apple. I find the normal 13 to be the perfect size! Not too big or small. The 13 mini is a little too small for everyday use but I guess I’m just not used to it yet!

      @[deleted]

I am also surprised by that price. But, it is worth the price. We are not extreme users, so we won’t make use of them upto the potential. I thought of buying that, but now I have changed my mind. I will go with older versions as now 😂.

[deleted] Hah, I watched the whole event and I was not expecting those prices. They are incredible machines that I believe were designed for professionals. With price tags also designed for professionals.

I cannot wait to visit my local store and try them for myself, really curious about the new screen and keyboard. I still believe that ProMotion makes more sense on an iPad Pro than a Macbook, but I really want to check how the screens behave and how the keyboard feels.

About the performance, I saw this news about the first alleged Geekbench Score for the M1 Max and it “features a single-core score of 1749 and a multi-core score of 11542, which offers double the multi-core performance of the ‌M1‌ chip that’s in the 13-inch MacBook Pro machine”.

Just as a complementary note, if you have a Mac, the macOS Monterey will be launched October 25, so happy updating in advance. 🤓

      9 days later

[deleted] I finally had the opportunity to try the new MacBook Pro, both the 14 and 16-inch models. 🤓

There are two things that really surprised me: the quality of the screen in person and the round corners (a tiny detail that makes a big difference to me).

More than ProMotion, it’s how everything looks so crisp that blew me away. Granted, I couldn’t play any videos, so I think that should be even better.

The notch was not that bad. I am not applauding Apple for doing it, but I don’t think it would be a problem for me. If you have a minute, please do watch this clip that proves that even Apple’s design is flawed - honestly, that’s kind of embarrassing for the company. 😅

The keyboard also allows for a comfortable typing experience, but everything combined, it truly feels these are two machines for “Pro” customers.

I also tried the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro with the M1 chips, and they are really, really good too. Yes, the 2021 MacBook Pro is better, but to me, for my daily usage, the prices do not justify it.

Oh, and I also tried the Apple Watch Series 7. Yeah, those watches are in a league of their own. 🤩

Don’t know if you saw it already, but iFixit did a teardown of the 2021 MacBook Pro and it’s a recommended one to read. The interiors of those devices are stunning. Plus, they shared the video you can see below.

Also, this message is a perfect excuse to just share an x-ray photo. 😎

Not only that, but they also did a “teardown” of Apple’s groundbreaking polishing cloth. You know, I am not defending its pricing, but the box looks really good, hah. Fun fact: it’s actually two cloths glued together. 😅

It “earns a 0 out of 10 on our repairability scale” because it distracted the team “from a very important MacBook Pro teardown and not going back together after we cut it into pieces with scissors”. 😆

[deleted] Hehe, you are correct - now I can only a see a robot in that image. Do you think his name is Max? 😆

The polishing cloth almost feels like the continuation of the Mac Pro wheels. I am going to include a very nice video from MKBHD where he shares his “hot take” about why Apple does this.

I just checked before writing this and here the cloth costs 25€ and if you order it now, you’ll get it in 10-12 weeks. That’s more than a month. Waiting. For. A. Cloth. 😅

After a long walk, I, too, feel like I am from the Pleistocene. The Pleistocene is such a cool (!) age that Blue Sky Studios even made a series of animated movies. 🤓

Treasure that polishing cloth, pretty sure it’s well-conserved in amber.

We’ve got admire these little nuggets we get from our planet. anunayC it’s a beautiful view, I’m sure you reflected on life and all sorts by looking at it. 😃

anunayC Many congratulations on the new machine, how are you enjoying it so far? 😍

Every single piece of feedback I’ve seen about it, the new MacBooks are being highly praised.

Also, judging by that photo, didn’t know that trains could just slide on top of the Hudson river. That’s quite the accomplishment. 😅
