Just the title. Anyone who bought (2) at launch last July, how are you feeling about your Phone (2)? I’ve had mine for two weeks, and the new phone honeymoon period usually doesn’t last this long for me. I still find myself looking at the back when picking it up, appreciating the aluminum side rails and playing with the composer.
This really is the iPhone of the Android world. UI is great and easy. Lots of customization options. The screen is phenomenal.
I work at a tech deployment company in the US, and it definitely turns lots of heads. I’ve gotten “Oh my God, which iPhone is that?” or “That’s an awesome iPhone case.” 5 or so times while at work. I might have gotten another potential Nothing customer on board. lol
Tell me how you’re still appreciating your Nothing phone.
Phone (2), 1 year later experiences
I’m torn personally. The screen is unusable in direct sunlight. Now I’m back from vacation and on the beach everyone is reading on their phones, nothing is visible on mine. My wife has a cheap Motorola that reads everything with ease. Nothing is visible on NP2. The camera is far from the featured ads. Total failure. It’s like taking pictures with a Nokia with a flashlight. On the other hand, the design and software are phenomenal. He even fell into the pool and was fine. It’s very fast, I don’t have any bugs or crashes, the battery is good. But the camera and screen experience let me down and I’m unlikely to get another phone from them. I’m not even comparing it with iphone, samsung.. but with a cheap motorola edge 30 neo.. I’m shocked.
I bought my Nothing Phone 2 at launch. After a year, I practically don’t use the Glyphs because they are useless in everyday life. When I bought it, the battery lasted over 9 hours of screen time, which was great, but now, with the updates, it has decreased to 6 hours. The launcher was ruined by the last update, and now either the icons are too small or the fonts are gigantic. I also bought the CMF Watch Pro at launch. They forgot about the watch within six months, as if it never existed. I’m very disappointed and will not be buying products from this company again, and I advise all my friends to avoid dealing with this so-called startup.
Well. I needed I flagship like the old Oneplus and it was something like that.
- Battery life has pretty much been solid over the entire time. Not once has it let me down or asking for more. ( not a gamer but even when I did try games).
- Camera - the stock camera is PATHETIC from the start and still is. I’ve found my right GCAM and now I have no worries. Easily takes the best photo amongst the people I know (until real flagships pop up with insane shots).
- Speaker, screen quality are good. Nothing to complain. Expecting more in the next generation. Maybe a 2k display, Dolby support would be nice additions.
- Haptic is piss poor. Sorry Nothing. But its tuned reallyyyyy bad. I wanted to like it but meh.
- Nothing OS : mixed bag really. It’s smooth fluid and snappy BUT not at all customisable, the horrendous font that can’t be changed, the launcher with minimal customisation… Basically it’s nothing of what OG Oxygen OS was. The customisation in Nothing OS is pretty much equivalent to the old iOS which was the least customisable. Ram management is pretty trashy in the 8GB ram variant.
- Updates are timely and fixes things. But doesn’t give really important fixes like better camera processing or customisations.
All in all, it’s a good phone, not a great phone. And if there’s any better phone like the s23( priced around 45k in India) or Oneplus 12 near 58~60k, they’re indeed a better consistent deal.
I have bought the phone on last nov
Gotta say its a nice device physically unique and stands out from the crowd.similar to iphone if u put on ringke case
Pros..
1.nice battery backup ,nice display ,overall build ,slw omg the smooth 120 hz is something i ain’t experienced before loved it ,UI response is also good , network connectivity,in hand feel definitely feels premium ,
Cons
1 camera is average in specification it’s 50-50 mp but in real life it’s something like what u get from. Under 30 k phone am not happy
To be very specific portrait mode is waste …not even a single photo will come out perfectly.edge detection is below average u will get better portrait from other budget phones .vd performance is much better..with good lighting, photos will come out average..main drawback is inconsistency that is a curse of nothing phones
2.with each update new bugs will come, espically in my phone still got few bugs in my device and I contacted the team via email but nothing fixed till now ,very disappointed
3,game performance should be better since it’s premium category phone it’ should give that premium experience.though
4.haptics is good but the implementation could have been better like in other premium phones .,
Haptics should be added in volume up&dlw, while turning on ond off of quick toggles . switching ble recent apps etc and more…
The glyph light is now turned yellow .don’t know how.but the white colour is now changing to yellow from the corners and edges of the glyph light
Overall on a scale of ⅒ I will give the pH 2 – 7/10
Only because of the issues and bugs and the improvement needed ..if all that is sorted then it will be a perfect nothing phone
