Too many phones this year

It’s a small suggestion that it’s not appropriate to release multiple phones in a single year it gets more confusing and will demolish the brand value of NOTHING . Nothing 2a+ was an un necessary release it should have released with the normal 2a launch also there’s a community phone coming this year makes a mess 2a, 2a+ , CMF phone released in a single year. A humble request to the nothing brand as a NOTHING enthusiast please don’t become like REALME,OPPO, MI, AND VIVO who releases countless phones in a single year

I think no need to release nothing 2a Plus. It is a weak decision by nothing side. Same look only small difference from 2a. Also, my opinion is please don’t release phone in every month like another company. Please release maximum 2 or 3 phone in a year like apple do. If you guys release phone like that every world wait for the new release of nothing phone because they understand every nothing phone coming with unique design’s and also the tech world accepting that design. So please don’t release phone like this.

Once again no need for nothing 2a Plus phone. This is my opinion what about other please comment below.

Hi! In light of the latest release by Nothing, which is the Phone 2a Plus, does anyone else who bought the regular Phone 2a recently feel a bit betrayed by the brand?

I expressed my point of view in the comment’s under this post on Reddit (I’m not the OP). I recommend going through the post to see the context and other opinions:

I want to mention that Poco has the X line, with models like the X6 and X6 Pro being released on the exact same day, according to the information available online. This allows people to decide whether they should buy the Pro for extra power or go with the base model. Which is fair. Moreover, I guess (though I’m not sure) that Poco fans who follow the brand’s releases can actually predict the next upgrade in the line due to the more or less consistent release schedule (again, not completely sure).

What we see here, however, is probably one of the most dishonest moves that even big brands hesitate to make. So it’s pretty ironic to see something like that from the great “big brands fighter” like Nothing. They release a new phone and build a big campaign around it, telling people how much they love and care about their new entry in this segment, how hard they worked to make it polished, and promise flagship-level support. Also you see the engagement with the community with those new SE designs. So, you think, “Okay, they know what they’re doing. This model seems to be their current focus until they release a new flagman at least.” You trust them and support them by buying their latest device.

Then, just a couple of months later (for me it’s even less than a month), without any advance announcements, while most users still have their default screen protector on, they say, “Hey, we’ve heard some of you complaining about the performance and other stuff. Here, we fixed your 2a. Now it’s what it was supposed to be initially. Feel free to buy it again. Thanks for your support!” I’m disappointed. I hope Nothing could do something about it, but I can’t imagine what, so it’s just disappointment.

TurboAsh 100% with you. I feel betrayed, especially since they announced it so close just after buying the 2a. It really feels like they didnt finish cooking the 2a and now pushed the version they wanted.

Either release the phone you want, or dont at all. Dont release an unfinished product. Especially with such a minimal price difference i wouldve been ready to pay for.

And i dont care wether it is standard business practices or not, usually companies wait a year to release a new model. Even worse by the fact they literally just launched the cmf phone 1 a couple weeks ago. Nothing is loosing its appeal quickly with this one.

I absolutely agree. I’m also unhappy that my new 2a is the “old one” after a couple of months.

I will not buy any Nothing phone a second time. I learned from this.

No clue what the product strategy may be.

I think it’s fine. A variety of phones mean different niches are filled, so sales will be better.

A rising tide floats all ships. If the company is doing well they’ll have the resources to make an amazing phone 3. We’ll all benefit.

I knew the pushback about the 2a+ was going to boil down to 2a buyers who regret being early adopters. Emptor caveat.

I agree. I hope Nothing will not turn into Xiaomi-like brand which releases 10+ phones a year.

This reduces focus on upgrading current phones, and force to abandon 2 years old models. DONT GO THIS WAY.

Phone (2) - Flagship, nice

Phone (2a) - Cheaper one, okay

Phone (2a) Plus - Why? Where’s a point for doing phones for every $50 price step?

CMF Phone (1) - Low-end, that’s fine but I don’t know why

As Phone (2) user I hope that will not be abandoned in few months because Nothing will need to redirect focus to newer phones.

I wouldn’t say it’s completely unnecessary.

The Phone 2a Plus was made for people who loved the regular 2a but wanted even more. They wanted better cameras, fast performance, and a fresh look. So, Nothing made this special version to give them exactly what they wanted. It’s for that specific group of people who liked the 2a, but wanted a bit more. I actually love that Nothing actually listens to their community, and gives them what they want, which more companies should do. But this release does put this phone in a weird spot for me.

It just feels like to me that they should’ve just included these upgrades in the 2(a) first instead of making a completely different phone. It’s still a great phone though and I love the new look! So congrats to Nothing for releasing this, but it just gives me mixed feelings about it

JosiahTechGuy I mean I both agree and disagree. You should be very irrational with your finances if you go and buy the Plus after buying the Original. Some mad fan energy. And yes, the “Plus” is the actual 2a while the original 2a is a production mistake. Or the original 2a should have been cheaper from the start then. The price difference between the them is minimal. It wasn’t to “fill al the segments”. From when different price segments has a 50 dollars difference? It was the work on the 2a’s mistakes and that’s it. And no, lowering the price for the original 2a won’t make me happy I have already bought it.

Might have been a good idea to launch a (2) Plus and (2a) Plus at the same time. I think everyone would have been more accepting if they could see that all the latest phones were getting a refresh and partial upgrade whilst we wait for the delayed phone (3).

Regarding the earlier point of why? I wouldn’t buy a (2a) because it does not suit my needs; however, the upgraded (2a) Plus does and I am now considering whether to buy that or the Nord 4, or neither.

This seems to be a sore subject across the Community.

However, the (2a)+ does no harm, whatsoever. Is it for everyone? No.

Is it for Phone(1) users who were holding out for the Phone (3) which is now pushed back to 2025, most likely.

Is it a great way to get into the media with a “World’s First” smartphone. Yes. The CPU is making its debut with this phone.

Do I feel sorry for those who recently purchased a (2a), yes. But you are also purchasing a phone that is now over four months old. But that will still last you for over 2.5 years of software updates.

I feel that ultimately, the (2a) was an experiment by Nothing. A new segment for their device portfolio, a new, fresh design. This plus is part of the same. Plus it adds a first for Nothing, a 50MP selfie camera, which is a good sign of the future.

3 Phones in one year, really isn’t a travesty. It isn’t on the levels of other companies who release many, upon many of devices every other month. Heck, even Apple release four phones in one go.

I am sure that the feedback here shall be heard. Let’s see what 2025 holds for product releases. We know we can expect Phone (3). We will probably see some more uniformity and clarity, for sure.

Alex Exactly man! I wonder why Nothing didn’t think of it, it’s so obvious, To many people that the first product by the brand and you’re letting your new customers down like that. Brilliant.
