Is it safe to rinse the CMF Watch Pro 2 under a water dispenser?

I recently got the CMF Watch Pro 2 and I’m wondering if it’s safe to rinse it under a water dispenser to clean it occasionally. I know it has an IP certification, but I’m not entirely sure what that means in terms of actual water exposure. Has anyone tried this, and is it safe for the watch?

Probably wouldnt recommend, if you do need to clean it, use either a wipe (not a disinfecting wipe) or a damp microfiber cloth, If any dirt or sand, etc. gets in the watch, you might wanna take it to a repair shop to get it professionally cleaned.

I did try these methods on the first gen watch (currently getting the 2nd) and it was safely cleaned, if you do however put it under running water (not recommended) it will probably be fine if you take it out fast but I wouldn’t wear it after and let it dry out.

I takes like five secound to check up what exactly each number in the IP certification means https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_code . That isn’t rocket since.
And to explain everything, Watch Pro 2 is IP68 with means:

Dust-tight No ingress of dust; complete protection against contact (dust-tight). A vacuum must be applied. Test duration of up to 8 hours based on airflow.
Immersion, 1 meter (3 ft 3 in) or more depth The equipment is suitable for continuous immersion in water under conditions which the manufacturer shall specify. However, with certain types of equipment, it can mean that water can enter but only so that it produces no harmful effects. The test depth and duration are expected to be greater than the requirements for IPx7, and other environmental effects may be added, such as temperature cycling before immersion. Test duration: agreement with the manufacturer

Depth specified by the manufacturer, generally up to 3 meters (9.8 ft)

TL;DR it is waterproof for all of the most common cases, you can go swimming with it and it will survive just fine. I don’t even take it off when I am going batching and it is fine.

Last week, I was swimming in a lake with my watch on. I didn’t take it off even for showering.

Nothing has happened to it yet. Just touch screen freaks out in contact with water.

I do not recommend doing it 🙂

I’ve been washing my Watch Pro 1 after workouts since I got it 8 months ago and its been completely fine. Same with the Watch Pro2 which I got on launch day. These watches are IP68 rated for a reason.

As I know they have water resist. but for example, there are NO swimming sport mode in watches ( or maybe i’m blind) Someone usually swims with them and everything is ok but it’s a random i think, just about luck. But I don’t take it off from my hand when going to take a shower 3-4 times/day and everything is cool.

It is not luck, it doesn’t matter if they is a swimming mode or not. It has IP68 where each number does precisely explain what it is able to handle. Stop guessing, it can handle continuous immersion in water in at least 1m deep water.

dragonn yes, but if I accidentally drown the watch, it will not be covered by the warranty despite the water protection =(

and the lack of a *swimming* mode is sad ahhh

Leo Nenks Then what is IP rating for, if you are right in this? To me, it says something about manufacturer or reseller, if they do not accept device with water damage if they claim it is IP68 rated. Once it is IP rated, it need to be covered by warranty.

maniacse i fully get ur position, but unfortunately i havent seen before any warranty that can cover water damaged device even if the one has IP68 hehe =( but I never keep the watch 2 pro off when going to take a shower and since 2 week everything is okay haha.
