  • Community Insight: Exploring Ideas for Local Community Activities

Hey Community,

I hope you’re all doing well!

I’m reaching out to gather your thoughts on how we can improve local engagement through activities like meet-ups and photowalks. Understanding what you want and need from these events is crucial for us to create meaningful and enjoyable experiences.

Are there specific types of activities you’d like to see more of? Perhaps workshops, social gatherings, or themed photo walks? Additionally, I’d love to hear about any challenges you’ve faced in participating in local activities and how we might overcome them.

Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to make our community events more inclusive and engaging. By sharing your insights, you can help shape the future of our local activities and ensure they meet the interests and needs of everyone involved. I look forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions!

themed photo walks would be amazing. Only thing is maybe these should take place across cities in UK organised by mods etc as not everyone can travel to London. Maybe some kind of AMA tour 🤔

I would love to see a photo walk in Japan.

Or a get-together would be good.

However, only community members and teams would be good. I feel that many Japanese events are attended by celebrities and influencers, and in effect, community members are not able to develop positive connections at the event. Need activities to deepen community cohesion.

Not sure if you have a proper team in Dubai. But a community walkthrough in one of the parks in Dubai would be great. It’s perfect for a good outing, picturesque landscapes and vibrant city as it is known.

I really enjoyed the community meetups in the early days of OnePlus. The Street Art London Tour was a highlight. A couple dozen of us were taken on a tour around Shoreditch to see the street art (some of it hidden) and learn about the artists behind them. It was really interesting and everyone went for drinks afterwards. Bubble football was also a laugh.

Eight years later and I have a young family and not much time off to venture to London for meetups, sadly. If it helps:

You’ll need a destination with great transport links or a dense population. London is easy for most Southerners in the UK to get to, but I’d suggest any meetups that are arranged in the week should be from 6:30pm because people have work and need time to travel (I’ve had issues with this); alternatively, weekends or Bank Holidays.

In-person events have to be really worthwhile to attract people who are further afield.

I recommend going on a street art tour (seen the new Banksy’s?), but a ‘how to de-Google and privatise your smartphone’ workshop is appealing to me. That could be done online though, but nothing beats drinks and a pizza.

RohitPakalapati keep in Ahmedabad, India. I can connect you with the photography and Heritage club of my university. We have done a lot of heritage photowalks but with professional cameras and our phones. Let’s do it with some nothing devices. It would be a great idea connecting with some university. I will help you in all the procedures to make this event happen. Just your little support is needed. Ahmedabad is India’s First UNESCO World Heritage City.

Allelujah I’m always down for coffee and friends ☕

RohitPakalapati Having been on a few community meetings ups, photowalks are a nice way to go and see different parts of a City, whilst casually socialising with others. However, not everyone will be a budding photographer, so other ideas could include just a meetup over coffee, community games events or something simple like a park meet and then just chill out and chat with other like minded individuals. For London specifically, there are plenty of entertainment based activity locations that also include food and drink, a great way to spend the evening having fun with community!

also I’d like to see more arcade nights. Think it only ever happend the once all way down London. Be cool to see more right across UK 🤷🏻 Fun way to spend time with community members 🤔

In-person mobile gaming event would be really fun. Mario Kart, Fortnight, etc. Set up a tournament. Have forfeits and prizes. 😃🍺

An ndot ‘GAMER’ t-shirt would be worth the trip.

Depending on the size of the groups, we could have a friendly UK vs India vs International competition.

sean (1) - oh, it is on, like Donkey Kong! 👊🏼

Would love a series of Nothing competitions, online Mario Kart would be fun 😅
