I have a problem keeping an app alive in the background when the phone goes to sleep. The app in question is XApp by Fujifilm, but I believe this may apply to many other Bluetooth device companion apps as well.
When the phone is awake, with the app running in the background, and the camera gets switched on, a Bluetooth connection is established within seconds. However, when the phone is sleeping, e.g. in a pocket, the connection is not made until the phone is woken up (even without unlocking) – e.g. by tapping the screen, pressing a button or by simply moving the phone. As soon as the screen lights up, the connection is restored.
This behaviour is different with other Android phones, e.g. Motorola, where the connection gets restored regardless of the state of the phone. Hence, I think Nothing OS makes the app go to sleep.
I can’t figure out a way to prevent it from doing so. “App battery usage” is set to “Unrestricted”, and “Adaptive battery” as well as “Sleep standby optimisation” are both off.
Any ideas how to prevent the OS from putting Xapp to sleep?
The device in question is a CMF Phone 1 with Nothing OS 2.6, the XApp app and camera firmware are also up-to-date.
Best,
Sebastian
